Will the fantastic plastic engine cover off the AU 2 & 3 XR8's series fit onto the same engine bolts as the EL XR8 has for its boring black engine cover ? And will it fit under a closed bonnet ? curious.. anybody know or anybody seen it ?

I have seen it done but I believe you have to make up custom mounts for it to fit.

Yeah they mount up differently. Like EDXR8 said, you will just have to make up your own mounts.

My son just painted his EL engine cover and with a fine artist brush and resin enamel he highlighted the ford emblem and the lettering and it looks really schmick. Less mucking around than custom brackets.
Some thing to think about. Each to their own, take care.

The highlighting is done in a similar fashion but he first painted the whole thing to match the colour of the car and the highlights stand out really well.

i was just curious, as I have the 5lt v8 plaque from the au series atop my manifold and thats where the el engine cover bolts up, however the AU cover bypasses the manifold, food for thought i guess. thnaks guys.

Here is mine.
I filled in the Ford logo and fitted a badge though.Seemed easier at the time.

That looks f**k awesome. I should do that to my Heritage Green EL XR8.

How do you get that smooth look? The cover is a rough finish standard.

The front plastic part is smooth, the rear part is rough.

Yep, Trick Flows cover looks awesome!!! Can't imagine a better looking one of those covers!!

Timmeh, you could get that smooth effect with spray filla and a good sand, but I don't know how heat tolerant it would be.
