When i got my DC (3.9) i found out that the engine number was the same as the vin. On my NC, i also noted that my engine number is very different to the vehicles vin. is this normal for the 5.0l's? or has mine had a new donk dropped in at some time?

Its a different motor.

Keep all your rego papers, and receipts -just incase you have any rego problems. (I had issues getting my fairmont transferred to vic rego cos it has an XR6 motor in it)

Is that a way around it Kel? Vic rego ? Because the new 351 I got for my XB is a pollution motor and the XB is 12/73 car (pre pollution). In other words they will want me to run pollution gear on the new motor, because its from a later model.....Or was i misinformed?

Samsy - I always thought that when you put a newer model motor in your car they would be happier.

However - I think it probably depends on who you get at the RTA.

The RTA never had any problems when I got my ED Fairy registered with a motor from an EB GLi. However - when I put the EDXR6 motor in it, I had major issues.
Then I had bigger issues when I transferred from NSW Rego to Vic Rego.

also - PM "MRJUCY" - he may be able to give you advise on what you need to do to pass all the pollution checks (he did it about a dozen times)

I also have a pollution motor in my XB Coupe. A block block 351 from a ZJ Fairlane.

In SA, if you have a later model engine, your car needs to conform to the regs at the date of release of the new motor. My Coupe should be running EGR, PCV, Carcoal canister etc.

This will be more of a problem for me as I have 1992 5.0L that I want to put in a smaller older car, nit sure what at the moment. I want something different so a Capri or Cortina is out of the question.

Anyway I digress .......
