Excellent, thanks Pete - MAF understood!
Any ideas about P0350?

Are there any differences between the plastic and metal 80mm MAF bodies used in the Cobras? I can see a mix of them for sale on eBay..

What's the exact description of P0350?

P0350 - Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
As mentioned before, if I unplug Coil Pack "A", I get P0351 and P0352. Then if I clear it and unplug Coil Pack "B I get P0353 and P0354. So while its an error around coil circuit, its giving no indication as to which coil pack is at fault (maybe no issue at the coil pack.. inside the ECU or power to the ECU..?)

Ok, much digging on DIS found this - the last paragraph is interesting pointing towards a lack of IDM signal. My understanding of our EEC-V is that the DIS module is internal (as opposed to many of the US models having external DIS in their EEC-IV equipped vehicles). So if the ECU isn't seeing a IDM edge - is this an internal EEC-V fault?
Quote: First, the relationship between successive PIP events is evaluated to determine whether the PIP signal is rational. Too large a change in 3 successive PIP indicates a missing or noisy PIP signal (DTC 14, 211, P0320).
Next, the CMP edge count is compared to the PIP edge count. If the proper ratio of CMP events to PIP events is not being maintained (for example, 1 CMP edge for every 8 PIP edges for an 8-cylinder engine), it indicates a missing or noisy CMP signal (DTC 19, 214, P0340). Then, the relationship between IDM edges and PIP edges is evaluated. If there is not an IDM edge (coil firing) for every PIP edge (commanded spark event), the PCM will look for a pattern of failed IDM events to determine which ignition coil has failed. If the ignition coil cannot be identified or if the engine is running and there are no IDM edges, then the IDM circuit is malfunctioning (DTCs 16/18/19, 212/218/226, P0350-P0360).

Seeing as it's also a secondary circuit fail It's probably detecting spark blowout. What have you closed the plug gap to? or have you not?

Interesting! I didn't install or gap the plugs, will talk to the meachanic who installed them.

Wow, just pulled out the 70mm MAF and lined up my "90mm" lightning MAF (it's more like 95mm). Seems it will fit in the engine bay but my god its HUGE. The S/C inlet pipe is around 70mm I/D - will the MAF still work effectively given the huge difference in size?

If you taper the pipe to back of the MAF it should work fine.

Pete, question. I realise these MAF's can be calibrated in the X3 software (sadly I dont have access to edit the tunes). My understanding of how this works is that in the tune you would input the voltage and the actual airflow at that given point. Perhaps this is my simplified version of how it works, correct me if I'm way off
Is it possible in the tune to have an effect on what voltage the MAF returns depending on how the MAF is "calibrated" ? Cheers

Yes that's right you'd punch in the numbers.
You are not calibrating the MAF you are calibrating the EEC with the transfer function of the MAF you have used. Sounds like you need to piss that thing off and get a 1/4 horse....then you can do everything yourself in real time. |

Say what.. a 1/4 horse? What's this?

Mate, I was checking that the choke wasn't stuck open on the 4 barrel. Now I find I can plug in all these electronics to tune the carburettor on my car.. it's mind boggling. Still unsure about the whine from the engine bay.. :S
