Arent summit and jegs in america?
I dont have loads of cash to import stuff. Jeff i was only doing the oil pump as insurance along with a rering/bearings. You can get complete rebuild kits made by precision for 700 in perth thats why i cant justify 400 for rings alone. I feel like i have been burnt because i tried to use factory parts haha nah its just because im poor.

Have you checked out the Summit site and had a look at their prices? Even with freight and the packaging fee ($25), you can buy just about anything from there considerably cheaper than what you can here. It's where I get all my parts from and it takes a week, max, to get here. Here's a link or 2 for you. Check them out, see if you can find what you are looking for, then go to www.xe.com to do the $ conversion from US to AUS, where you will see what the part's going to cost you. Give them a call after 9pm and they'll be able to give you a quote for freight straight away too. Oil Pumps - http://www.summitracing.com/search/Make ... ump%20ford Rings - http://www.summitracing.com/search/Part ... on%20rings - you'll have to know exactly what you're looking for there, which I'm sure you would. It's just a matter of selecting the right options from the left side of the page. I think you'll be pleased to see that they won't cost you $400!!! I hope this helps. If you'd have wanted to do this last week, you could have chucked it in with my order.

The oil pump is the same. Mellings M68 from memory. For rings, give ACL a call. They offer a suitable set from Mahle. An alternative that I haven't verified personally is Hastings 2M4726 which is also listed for the shallow top ring groove.

Is the difference between eb-el pistons and au pistons a shallow top ring groove?

I'm sure someone on here could have a look, who knows which rings you would need, and tell you the part number and possibly post the link to them. Jeff might be able to tell you?

Sounds like a plan if you are unsure. What you going to do with the AU short block then?

If it goes alright ill just keep the au motor in the eb until my eb 5.0 bottom end is rebuilt, and then ill sell the au bottom end.
Could be a while but... depending on funds because i want it done properly, and i only want to build it once

There were 3 different pistons used in the V8's from EB1 to AU3. The first was the TRW which uses a fairly standard metric ring pack EB1 - EB2. After that Ford used two different combinations of shallow top and shallow oil ring grooves EB2 - EL, EL/AU1 - AU3. The changes did not coincide with vehicle model changes, so it's a lucky dip when you open up an EB2 or EL V8 as to what you will need. Easy eh?

Get a dart block with 4.125" bores and a set of pistons which you will know the ring groove sizes on?
