Has anyone had a problem with the 1250 wicking oil from the valley through the bottom of the gasket then into the intake ports?
It's just that I am having oil in manifold issue even after PCV etc removed. I suspected either unsealed rocker studs - not the case, valve guides - not the case.
I installed new 1250 smeared with ThreeBond 1207B silicon on both sides, ran engine for 45 minutes & then removed the upper.
Then slid a borescope down each port and to my horror it appears there is oil weeping through the gasket in every port. Again no oil from valve guides or rocker studs.
The oil I am using is Penrite Sin10 ( 10w/70 Fully synthetic ) - could this be a factor?
Have read somewhere that felpro 1250s-3 is better.
Any recommendations?

Richie

Running the 1250s on mine with no drama.
Put the 1250s on my mates car with no reported dramas.
And will be putting them on the 220kw engine thats going into the missus car.

Sounds like the head face is not square to the intake. Very common with TFS stuff...which you don't have.
I've never had that problem with 1250's and I only put a little(very little) extra silicone around the backside of the gasket around the water ports.

I don't think Felpro recomends silicon, just a spot to hold in place maybe. Should hook to head gasket. Try it dry, torque in sequence, re-torque warmed up.

On assembly I torqued the lower to 18 ft/lb in 3 stages. Then retorqued to 20ft/lb for 3 hot/cold cycles. It got better each time but on inspection you can see a drop of oil in each runner ( I clean the runners past the intake ports each time. The oil drop seems to sit just below the intake gasket - this is the case for all 8 runners.

Any other ideas

Richie.

Machine the head/manifold face for an O-ring? Ala LS1/Sprintcar engines?
