Try not to have a full tank of fuel.
Take the cover off.
Blow all the crap out of the cavity around the top of the tank, and/or vacuum it.
Disconnect the fuel lines noting which one is which and unplug the elctrical connector.
Undo the hose clamp around the retainer ring. It's difficult.
If you have the tool for undoing the retainer ring? Undo it. Someone mentioned Repco have em for sale at the moment..BUY ONE! IT"S WORTH IT. Otherwise the factory manual shows how to make one.
If not you need a wide blade screw driver and a mallet, drive the shorter of the ribs and keep moving to different ones otherwise you'll bust em off.
When you get it undone, note the posi of the pump assembly before you take it out, watch the float arm and the fuel sock.
Change the pump. Depending on the actual pump you get the instructions here could be different so read the instructions.
Clean the top of the tank again and clean the O-ring and inspect for nicks or cracks, usually they're ok.
Put the assembly back in, in the right posi. Keep the big hose clamp loosely on the retainer if you can.
When tightening the retainer it's a good idea hold the pump assembly still while tightening so it doesn't turn with the retainer.
Once it's reasonably tight, tighten the big hose clamp as best you can...it's bloody difficult.
Plug it all back in.
Prime the system by tuning on the ignition every coupla seconds. Make sure it doesn't leak.
