Hi all, question from a family member. He has a 6 cylinder turbo ford territory SUV and is thinking he would like to drop a new V8 if possible. Might sound silly but is it do-able? If so any idea on coatings? Not sure if it's an engine bay space issue? Component compatability? Or just simply making sure transmission and brakes can handle it?

Don't try it with a late model Ford Modular engine. From what I understand there won't be room to get the steering shaft to the front mount rack, the V8 RHS cylinder head will be in the way. Maybe something smaller like an LS1 might fit though.
OR Ditch the Territory crossmember, steering, suspension etc and mount up the equivalent Falcon front end to the Territory rails which also lowers the car heaps. You'll have to do the same at the rear. A few have already done it this way but then it is more a re bodied Falcon than a V8 Territory IMHO. |
