Is there any point of spending the extra on a forged rotating 347 assembly or will cast be just as good. The motor will be a weekender and wont see revs past 6,000. Cant seem to justify the $$ for an aftermarket block. Plannign for power levels of 250ish rwkw.

Cast will do fine but it depends which brand too. The Scat 9000 series cast gear is good but there are other no-name brands which are utter crap. Make sure you get the best quality pistons like JE,Ross,CP,Wiseco or Diamond. I'd also go the 5.315" rod version so that you can have pistons with the pin out of the ring land.

Just get Scat gear with a good set of pistons and i should fine. Sounds good, cheers mate. |

Eagle or Scat is the way to go, you can get stroker kits from many Aussie online stores such as highperformanceworld, but keep in mind that a decent bottem end will cost you about 6grand to be built.

As said before.. No point in spending big $$$ on rotating assembly.. When at high power or rpm the block splits and destroys your expensive rotating assembly !!!

AS EBXR8380 said if your gona make big hp then ur block may fail, but from speaking to terry at BTR and my engine builder Sam's performance they have not seen a standard 302 block fail and both cars are making 500plus hp flywheel. So i suspect not good engine preperation & build.
