I get around 400km's per tank when city driving and the average litres per 100k's consumed is usually about 14.5 or thereabouts.

Never really run a tank dry doing only highway / country driving. Never had the opportunity since I bought this car. What I have noticed though is that when I am on the highway, the trip computer drops down to about 8 - 9 L/100kms, which on a 68L tank might get me about 700kms - maybe a little more if I was to estimate how far I could drive purely on highway / country driving.

I could only ever get a maximum of 470km to a 68L tank with mainly highway use, I found with the diff ratio, the car gets its best econ at around 90-100km/h, I have modified the car now and have aprox 350hp and the economy is about the same, if not better when being nursed?
A mate of min has an EF fairmont 5L (standard) and he gets around 500-700kms to a 75L tank

i normally geta round 14-14.5 L/100klm that is city driving, havent been on hoghway a great deal with it yet, havent needed too, although i shoulda went on the sydney cruise today..... but.....
i am fairly happy with the fuel consumption of the fairlane, i was predicing it would be a lot more when i bought her, being a heavier car and the 8 factor. but it is prety good. doing a service on her today, so hopefully that will give me a bit better fuel economy

I get around the 4-450 mark which seems roughly the norm for shorter trips/city driving.
On freeway it drops to around the 9L/100km but forgot how many Ks i got from sydney. Compared to my old standard I6 fairlane, its about 1L/100km up on freeway/city, not as bad as i was expecting but there is always better, i didnt buy this car for fuel consumption lol.

Yeah around the 400-500km mark around town/local driving.
Got 800km out of a tank going to the Nats 2 years back. Melb-Canb, that was with exhaust and extractors. |

I get 550 - 650ks per tank and its mostly highway. If I do normal city crap driving I get 500ks. I only use Ultimate 98 fuel if that makes a difference and mine is series 2 manual.
I havent done a full highway only driving but if I did I would imagine that 800ks is not out of the question as EL XR8 said. |

Is it just me, or do the Auto's in the 8's seem to drink a LOT more???
I reckon the 8's don't get too bad fuel economy considering what most people think. |

Well I dont see me getting 500km around town. Simple as that lol!
Auto + V8 = alot of low rev cruiseing around, would like to thin this would be good on fuel however it doesnt look that way..

I will know pretty soon as I am converting to manual, but I think you tend to flog an auto more than a manual, its just easier to let it drop back by itself rather than use the torque in a manual

Well lately Ive been trying to keep it under 2000rpm; easy to do so long as not trying to get out onto a busy rd in the morning rush.. Will see how long this tank lasts as ive done 70kms n the needle is yet to move.
The last half a tank seems to last 10min LOL, i hate how that happens.

Yeah I've noticed that. Must be the way the fuel tank is shaped. |
