got a 220kw AUII XR8...
was checking over my new cooling system hoses that i did on the weekend when i noticed a strong smell of fuel comeing from the left bank of the engne, th right bank was fine but as soon as you put ur head over the left, holy s**t i swear i spent the rest of the day just about high... my fuel consumption is around 15-18L per 100k's so im thinking i may have a leak, any ideas on where to start looking would be a huge help... my mechanic cant figure it out at all, they just seem to think its all in my head... just changed the fuel pump and oxy sensors if that helps, and ever since i changed the pump it been cutting power every now and then under load... lol its doin my head in tryin to figure it out... again any sugestions would be helpfull...

Hi, maybe check your carbon canister isn,t cracked or leaking, it,s at front under left guard, common prob for fuel smell.

Just to expand on the above... The solenoid that opens the circuit to the carbon canister (also in the front left hand guard on AU's I think) can play up... When they fail you get a fuel smell in the engine bay and when you're driving along it will come into the car... I think I have replaced the solenoid on nearly all 4 of the falcons my family owns...
Cheers, Tim

If u change the pump and powers cutting in and out I'd suggest rotating the fuel pump 180 degrees as I've read this helps on the Windsors
