i want to put a gilmer drive into my eb fairmont 5 litre. but back when i had a xd 351 i use to use staight cuts and they sounded really good but i have heard when they let go they can do damage. i dont want to stuff my 5 litre up as they are a little dearer then a clevo. but i want to keep my power steering and i have'nt been able to find a gilmer drive belt set up to keep my power steering can anyone help please.

No-one makes a toothed serpentine belt for windsors and, for good reason; there is no point when both sides of the belt are utilised to drive the pulleys.
Gear drives are notorious for transferring crank harmonics to the valve train which, is not desirable. This is made worse on a 5.0 due to the heavy roller lifters copping a hammering from these harmonics. BTW you mighthave some fun trying to tune one of those cams...lobe sep is very narrow. Being EECIV it will be easier than a later vehicle though.

thanks for the information it has helped me out heaps i might just stay away from them. im going to stroke it next year with some alloy heads with a blower that might be my best way
