ell i finally got my xr8 onto the dyno yesterday at EAS Performance in airport west (they ill be building my storker motor for me) and i managed 188.9 kilowatts at the rear wheels and 525 nm of torque.
my car is a au3 xr8 5 speed manual with single 3 inch mandrel bnt exhaust, twin hi flow cats, pacemaker extractors, cold air intake and k&n air filter attacehd is the printout regards from adam

The peak power is good for an AUIII 220kw motor but I never thought they would have to rev to 6400rpm to get that sort of power?
Is the graph OK? It doesn't look right too me! |

Yeah somethings not right, 188rwkw is too much to start with unless you have got a big cam and other work on it. Any yeah the 6400rpm peak power gives you a hint they screwed up somewhere, peak power should be down around 5400rpm. Also I am pretty dure the 220's still had a 6250rpm rev limiter (although not positive).

I'm with the other guys. What other mods does it have. Good power but the problem is where it makes the power. 6400rpm is too high. You have same heads and intake as me but i have a bigger cam (if you have std) but mine peaks at 5400rpm and 180 odd rwkw.
Somthing is a miss!

not too sure but i know it doesnt rev that high, he reved it to 5800 and said peak power was around 5200-5400 so mayb th graph i too far to the right or something . i worked it out using the 25% loss thru the manual transmission and got 251 kw so it sounds about ight to me and seems consistant with the 13.9 i ran at heathote

I still say its way too high by 20-30rwkw but thats the thing with dyno's, they just can't get decent consistancy. Also considering that most 220's with large cams, EEC modifications and other mods only just get that sort of power (normally 180-190rwkw), and even heavily modified engines with aftermarket alloy heads, aftermarket intakes, cams etc etc only get 190-210rwkw you can see why that result is way out of place. |

Your TS on the quarter tells me more about your engines power than the dyno and yes 98.5mph is good about 180rwkw good.

Hows it tell rpm? Spark? If so, then maye theyve set it up for a six, when its an 8?

Yes thats what I think would have occured, just left it on the 6cyl setting. |

yeh but wouldnt it mean that only the rpm is out it looks like the power is coming on about 1000 rpm later on the dyno as peak power is at about 5500-6400 rpm when youd assume it would be at 4500-5500 rpm.
i still dont think it'd be far off as ive taken quite a few ba xr6 turbos (not fully worked ones just stock and with exhaust) and gen 3's so i wouldve assumed they were putting out around the 180 rwkw mark. id be disappointed if cam computer and exhaust mods only gave me around 20-30 rwkw r u sure its the series 3's that have shown those results ithought cam exhaust computer mods would get close to 200 rwkw and then ad the head porting into the equation an youd be up at the 210 rwkw max for the 5.0 litre. anothr thing to note from the dyno run was how the airf fuel ratio dropped from around 13.0 down to 10.0 as it got higher in the rev range dam these windsors run rich anyway i just cant to get my stroker project finished, should start ordering paart in the next week or so

Excellent results there mate. If she runs the mods listed then she's one out of the box special!
13.95 1/4 and a 188.9 on the dyno seams consistant with each other. Nice 60ft too! What tyres did you run?

thanx mate
the tyres were 2nd hand tyres from a little tyre joint in tullamarine they r bridgestone expedia's 245/40/17's they had about 90% tread when i got them and since i ran my car that day the grip levels have detrioratd a bit. when i ran they just gripped so well after the 1st 2 runs just chirped and took off yeh theyre still the only mods i have and also 3.9 diff gears i was also thinking could the rpm be out because my speedo still hasnt been calibrated since i got the 3.9's put in

3.9 diff! I use a 3 speed box and as such can't really go to 3.9's wish i could though.
I'm going to keep the cam mild 226/231 @50 and stay with eec5. I run a chiptorque chip now and will get it reprogrammed. The stroker should be all but ready now. All the parts were there last week except the rotationg assembly that was away to get ballanced. They always take much much longer than they say they will. I took the precaution of getting a new block so they could do most of it without my ute. I'm going to run fairly big heads that are custom made for the speed shop thats building the engine. He recons they are the ducks nuts of course. i've been told they have about 220cc on the inlet. Big! I'm hoping for somewhere between 350 and 400 rwhp.

sounds good youve gotta be wrapped with those sort of figures. ive been told all the machining takes the longest.
what diff ratio r u running now? roughly how much all up is it costing u?
