Some headers fit and allow easy access to the plugs, other headers fit but you need to do one or more of

- Fit 90 degree angle spark plug boots
- Fit high temp spark plug boot shields
- Fit shortie spark plugs
- Fit iridium spark plugs (you only have to change them every 160,000k's)
- Remove headers to remove some spark plugs

Well worth the effort though. The GT40P's are a good "budget" upgrade.

Other members will report what works in their vehicles. I have heard that Defilipos (not sure of spelling) are a good option but pricey.

Unless its stroked ?? 250rwkw is a little high with GT40p heads..
220 is about as tractable engine wise with Crane 2031, TFS 1 cam or cam of similar specs...
Too much more aggressive with take away lower rpm power..
I would fit head studs to keep heads from lifting ..
I assume your aiming for around 10 to 1 compression ??...

i had a standard 98 au xr8 motor i think you guys call it the ho motor but any way was standard internals gt40p heads pacemaker extractors 90mm maf standard explorer intake standard throttle body a blower cam 42pound injectors fuel pump and the help of a vortech supercharger i got 305 rwkw (410-415rwhp)

i still have that motor sitting on a crate (block, crank, rods, pistons, cam, heads, push rods, lower mainifolds, upper mainifolds, throttle body, fly wheel, timing chain cover, oil pump. still fully assembled :?:

any AU motor isnt called a 'HO' motor.
HO primarily refers to the E-Series Motors running the HO Manifolds and E7 Heads.
Originated in the US in the mustangs.

all AU motors have an advantage over the HO motor, even with the 175 motors pissy cam.

Nope, not 400 rwHP without some sort of forced induction or power adder. Not even 400fwHP. A FULLY OPTIMISED engine could theoretically make 397fwHP based on the intake flow of 195cfm, but in the real world this isn't practically acheivable. If you can make 350fwHP with GT40P's you're doing really well.

Also, I think the underdrives would need to be from a 94/95 Mustang to fit our engines - after the mod, of course.

I'm pretty sure most of the 302 Mustang engines came with the E7 heads as well. There wouldn't be any point in importing "Mustang heads" as such. A lot of them were upgrading to GT40s and GT40ps as well. But now, the majority are running alloy heads as the second-hand market over there is so extensive, they can pick up second hand set for what some people are paying for GT40ps here.

edit - oops, didn't realise there were another 2 pages...

Nope, AU headers will not fit on E-series. The special tool you'd need to make them fit is a grinder and welder.
