around $800 is a good price, some are little more expensive
they are worth it if you are replacing them with E7's and your on a budget, but if you want to go huge hp then go for a set of alloys |

Not after huge power as such...the car is an el2 xr8 manual.
It has 70mm MAF + 24lb injectors, EL GT ECU, GT40 upper intake manifold with 10mm phenolic spacer, cold air induction and k&n panel filter.Dual 2.5" exhaust, Genie stainless extractors, Lukey mufflers. Producing 160rwkw (215rwhp) None of the mods were done by me, but I feel the power gains made are insignificant compared to the money the guy spend on the car, so I feel the heads might be the missing link to free up some horses.....also considering these underdrive pulleys, as members seem to recommend them.......looking for a good useable set, will probably get the ports cleaned up and bolt them on....then in future will be looking at a cam and would love to put a 347stroker kit thru it....dreaming now... I've never seen them at that price. Best I have seen is $800.
Can you tell if these are GT40Ps by looking at the pictures? {DESCRIPTION} |

Timmeh, hard to say in those piccies. There's one photo where the area of stamping of the letters "GT40P" is out of focus but looks to be in the right spot. Those photos suck.

They seem to be...I can't tell by looking, but the guy says they are, so you would hope they are the right thing, the reason I started this thread was because I found an excellent set today, low milage ready to bolt on for $650....seemed like a bargain but i was not sure, I might just grab them, they are not advertised anywhere, just someone selling a set they have.....
Here is a photo of my engine bay as it looks today......

All I can see is the rocker cover.
But in regard to identification of those heads, there are three places that have the ID stamped on each head: - On the leading edge of each head are four vertical bars. - On the outside lip of each head there is the stamp "GTP" - On the inside of each head you will find the stamp of "GT40P"

They look like Ps, the plug angle is right. Most do seem to sell for between $700 and $900 though I have seen them go for up to about $1100 for a good set or as low as $400ish. I saw one set slip through on eBay for $250ish a few weeks back but they we listed as HOs. The bargains are out there but not often. For $650 I'd buy them, that's still a pretty good price - I certainly wouldn't sell a set for $650, put it that way.

Yep those ones on Ebay are Ps, as stated earlier, you can tell by the angles in the chambers.

Its not just the angle, but also the way the spark plug boss sticks out a long way into the chamber.
I was spewin I was outbid on those P's that sold for $200-odd while I was travelling home from work...bargain of the century. The P's are a significantly better head than the E7's, but the alloys such as the e'brocks, AFR, TFS, RHS are up another level again. A 2nd hand set of P's are not worth more than $800 IMO (unless they have been professionaly ported, and/or come with some good valves/springs/retainers) |

Sorry to but into thread, i agree 100% with xr8ute. Have you had much to do with the y303 svo heads xr8ute? done a bit of research on them and as standard they only flow a bit more than gt40ps.

Yeah, with respect to performance (stock vs stock) everything I have read suggests the Y heads flow no more than 5-10% from .300" up on the intake and near enough to no difference on the exhaust side.
The intake ports are 5cc larger in the Y's (160cc vs 155cc), and exhaust volume is the same (53cc) |
