Hi guys, have just purchased Gt40P heads, 5.0 Typhoon Intake , 5.0 Litre POLISHED Throttle Body 70mm, Ford Racing ARP Head bolt kit, Typhoon 1/2" Phenolic Spacer w/ gaskets and bolts, EGR Spacer 70mm in SHOW POLISH, Ford Racing 1.70:1 Bolt On Inline Roller Rocker Arms, Ford Racing gasket overhaul kit. Can you guys tell me with these mods will I have to change injectors or anything else. Car is early 97 EL XR8 (not 185kw). I know I will have to change MAF as it is only 56mm. Am trying to locate one of these but as I have less than 40 posts I can't list in WANTED forum.

You probably wont have to change Exhaust Manifolds (40p has spark plugs come out at angle which will allow ignition leads to get cooked).
You will have to get a set of 90 degree plug leads though... or you can get alternate headers. Or have yours changed to 90 degree leads. Nigel |

Are you running the 1.7rockers on the std cam? I think you'd want to go back to 65mm T/B as 70mm is slightly large for this mild combo. I think it should make 160rwkw.. More if you get larger MAF and 24lb injectors and a tune. Are you going to shave the GT40P's for a little more compression?? xr8-boy on here has a few goodies to sell incuding a Pro-M maf calibrated for 24lb injectors which comes with the injectors aswell. If not i may know of an EL GT MAF that may be up for sale soon but you'd have to source your own injectors. Jeff

Yeh I am running 1.7 rockers std cam. I already have the 70mm throttle body. Whats the cost to have heads shaved and how much would you recommend getting taken off. Interested in the EL GT MAF depending on price. Which spark plugs will I have to get.
Thanks for your help Guys.

Thanks for your help Guys. The 1.7 rockers will work well with the std cam. You'd have to ask the engine assembler how much they think should come off the heads. Taking into account the 1.7 rockers giving extra lift. I think you'd be alright though as its a very mild cam with short duration and low lift. I'd like to see at least 30thou come off them. I'd seriosuly consider swapping that T/B for a 65mm though. Spark plugs should be whatever is suited to the early AU 5.0's (series 185's etc) Will start a for sale thread when i know that the MAF is up for sale.

I went the 70mm throttle body as Typhoon intake is 70mm. Thanks Sprints ran this setup so you should be fine. Even the original injectors should supply enough for the additional items you listed.

I went the 70mm throttle body as Typhoon intake is 70mm. Thanks Yeah you'll find you'll lose alot of low end throttle response and torque. I was running a 65mm on mine then went for a 70mm and noticed a difference down low with a loss of throttle response but gained up high where the cam and heads work best. If i could have it my way i'd prob still run a 65mm but unfortunately the T/B i've always wanted and just got a hold of only comes in 70mm. Your combo especially would compliment the 65mm even more, especialy with the very mild cam and small std port GT40P's At the end of the day its making all the parts match each other, thats when you'll have the best results.

Also that Typhoon Manifold. Is that a replica of the Edelbrock Performer or Performer RPM? I cant remember.
