i have bought a set of GT40X heads but think they have sent me the wrong ones.

i asked for the 58cc chamber size M-6049-X305, but looking at the heads a X302 number is stamped in the rocker well of the heads. this aligns with the 63cc heads M 6049-X302.

does this mean i have the wrong heads? i would assume so, but i may be missing something

cheers

You would be best to contact the supplier to confirm.. however the stamp may just be denoting that they are GT40X for 302, hence X302.

X302 is the number for the bare 64cc version of the GT40X heads. Sounds like you have been supplied with the X303 assembly.

From http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/pa ... ield=2600;

M-6049-X302* Bare Head (64cc Chamber)
M-6049-X303* Complete Head (64cc Chamber)
M-6049-X304* Bare Head (58cc Chamber)
M-6049-X305* Complete Head (58cc Chamber)

Hi all,

So, what would be the issue if the heads were not brought locally?

Will

Well then it wouldnt be just a matter of driving down and changing them.

If it was from overseas (or even interstate) then you first have to convince them that they made a mistake (not you - sometimes difficult), then that they should pay for freight both ways, and then wait for it all to happen.

i bought them in the US, but i am currently in the US, however interstate. i got the head machiner to CC the chamber and got him to ring up the company to tell them they sent the wrong heads. they did not believe me that they sent the wrong item

they are going o change them, but have to wait now for the exchnage delivery time...frustrating.

don't order anything from BuyFordRacing.com

I just saw why you bought from there, roughly $1200 Aus for a pair complete GT-40X heads is a bargain, pity you had the problems.

Even if you paid freight, or government import taxes you could get them here for under $1600, considering Mick Web's SVO sells GT40P heads for $1500 (what a rip off) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-Heads-GT40p ... dZViewItem

But as TKFDXR8 posted, it probably isn't a good idea to deal with them.

obviuosly i am lucky enough to be in the states to get this cheap gear.

i costed getting them shipped back to OZ unaccompanied so i wouldn't have to carry them with me.

$295 thru FedEx for 40lbs

you can get complete Gt40X sets for $989 thru the US ebay ($1185).

what you do is get the supplier to send the heads individually about 2 weeks apart so you don't get stung with the import customs tax, which is up to $1000. or you could just get the bare heads, and put in valve gear back in OZ.

looking at my heads though, it is recommended to get a bit of a clean up port, so allow for that $$.

On AFF Yella Terra (in the sponsors area) are selling brand new old stock gt40p heads complete with valve springs and valves. they have a pallet of em so the price is worth while. $640 plus gst. (for a pair)

Whats the go with avoiding import tax by sending them separately ?

I'm guessing it has to do with weight.

two heads shipped together comes to more than 1k. each head shipped seperately comes to less than 1k each shipment, hence no need to pay the import tax
