hi there,
i am planning on buying a set of the GT40X heads PN M-6049 X-305 as per below, and putting them on an AU2 XR8 http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/pa ... Field=2603 however, it states in the bottom disclosure that these heads are for pre-pollution cars only. i know this relates to the US EPA laws, but does this affect me when installing on the XR8, with AUS AU emissions system? ie. is it a direct bolt-on from the GT40p's ? also, does anyone know if i can use my existing yella terra 1.72 RR's. pushrods may change though, i know cheers

The GT40Y303 came factory on T1 Falcons, so I can see no reason why they would not. American polloution laws are alot different to ours.
Your RR's and pushrods will be fine. |

thanks mate,
everyone, i have sort of come up with an engine blueprint of what goodies i want for my AU2 auto. have a look and i am open to suggestions. std explorer intake. ported and matched. 12mm spacer GT40X 305 (58cc) cyl heads. mild 'cleanup' port job. CC dble springs. CC XE270HR cam. Rollmaster premium TC Romac hydraulic balancer - the new billett anodised ones, check 'em out. HE oil pan. hope to have a good streetable power upgrade without breaking bank or a pig to drive normally. also keeping with tickford theme. other stuff maybe a torque converter and electric water pump (maybe). am i on the right track?

Where did you get that emmissions info from? My GT40X (X303) have the EGR and air pump provisions....
Make sure you get the plugs for the air pump holes at either end of each head. You can get them from Ford spares in Australia (they where used on the EL and EB GT, and EB Sprint), but they will charge you $20 each!!! I believe from Ford spares in the States, they should cost you no more the $US10 for the set of four. |

im running xe264 with112 lobe sep in an au2 behind an auto i wanted the xe270 but was advised against it, the torque down low is awsome with the 264, my stock computer is only just handling it and i think youve gotta remember even though 264 sounds small the @50 thou figure is only 2 deg less than a crane 2031.......thought this might help

thanks for the input. i am however upgrading all the breathing side of things and so will compliment more duration cam spec. the 268 is similar to the standard 220kw cam ( a tiny bit bigger), which i already have.

cool mate , ive done the same with my airflow.....just check your figures for the stock ford cams because you get some conflicting info eg ; the 185 xr8 was supposed to have 214 dur@ 50 thou when checkin other info it was actually 204 if you check the valve opening degrees and calc its more accurate......even the 264 has quite a lumpy idle

here is the cam that was put in the au2xr8's (220kw). they were supplied to FTE by crow. after asking around they sent me this. only difference is that it may have more lift due to 1.72 YT RR's. of course the cams were different in T2/3. check out the lobe separation - 118. apparently EFI engines like long LS.
i am upgrading heads (GT40X) and intake man porting & matching - upper and lower. ******* CROW CAMS SELECT PROGRAM ******* 16 COLBERT RD CAMPBELLFIELD 3061 phone (03) 9357 0469 fax (03) 9357 0001 WWW.Crowcams.com.au MODEL TYPE FORD 351 WINDSOR ---------------------------CROW COMPUTER CARD---------------------------- | PART NUMBER 621339RH Date 17-APR-00 | | Cam type: Hydraulic Roller type Profile FTE 5.0 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------| | Advance Ground on Cam: 2 Lobe separation: 118 | | .050 VALVE TIMING | | Inlet opens: -14 BTDC Closes: 38 ABDC .050 Duration: 205 | | Exhaust Opens: 45 BBDC Closes: -15 ATDC .050 Duration: 210 | | ADVERTISED VALVE TIMING | | Inlet opens: 18 BTDC Closes: 70 ABDC ADV Duration: 268 | | Exhaust Opens: 78 BBDC Closes: 18 ATDC ADV Duration: 276 | | Inlet lobe lift at TDC on the over lap:.024 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------| | Valve lift Inlet: .4552 Inlet Rocker Ratio: 1.62 | | Valve lift Exhaust: .4555 Exhaust Rocker Ratio: 1.62 | | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------| | RECOMENDED VALVE TRAIN COMPONENTS | | Valve Springs: Spring height: Collets: | | Retainers: Pushrod: Lifters: | | H/D Timing Set: | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------|

dont know how you come to that ; advertised is 12 deg less on the 264 yet has 8deg more @50thou ;ex so ramp up is heaps quicker ....as for the 118 lobe sep angle just gives you less overlap makes it act like a smaller cam good vacumn to suit the computer and looses out on bottom end torque big time .....its an old school cam...IMO
