Well, went for a drive to buy some s**t at lunch. Fairly warm day here in Adelaide, temp gauge got moving up to roughly half way.
Almost back at the office... smell a whiff of coolant... hmm, prob just the overflow. Get into the carpark, open the door and can hear coolant hitting the concrete. Not good, right? Pop the bonnet, coolant is spraying onto the windscreen. Interesting. Looks like its coming from the ISC? f**k it's dark in the carpark, grab a lighter to provide some illumination. f**k hose at the rear of the EGR plate has split. Hmmm... coolant starting to run all over the place now. Shut the bonnet and get the f**k out of there before someone says someting!!! Now, anyone got any suggestions on a bush mechanic fix for a split hose... using nothing but office supplies? lol Also... the hose at the rear of the EGR... coolant going to the EGR or from it? Lol - free supercharged falcon in adelaide CBD for anyone who wants it. f**k THING!

Am on the plane as we speak, will take you up on the free supercharged falcon thing.
Joking. Why not disconnect both hoses, use a pen cut down and the hose clamps that are on the hoses to bypass the EGR totally. Mine leaked from there from the day i brought it and i deleted the hoses in much the same way. Hasn't leaked ever since Brett

bypass the EGR.
if you have skinny arms, just disconnect the cracked hose completely, and connect the end of the "good hose" that was going to the EGR to the connection where the cracked hose was on the motor. or... if you cant reach, just got lots of sticky tape, and try and tape up the hose, so that you can get it to the mechanics.

Could do but bit short notice...
Just having a think and i reckon i could disconnect the hose, cut of the bit that's ruptured and reattach the hose... hopefully there's enough slack in it to reach. Only has to limp me home, about a 10 minute drive by the time i leave work... then can do a proper fix on the weekend.

You coulkd do that, but my guess is that the hose is so old, it will just blow again. To fix properly, the upper inlet needs to come off, and both those hoses need to be replaced completerly, and we all know how much of a b**ch it is to get the HO manifolds out, especially the last bolt at the rear of the engine bay.

Yeah dude, that's looking like a great plan B - bypass the thing. I dont have particularly skinny arms and it should come up a treat on the white shirt lol... but sounds like a relatively easy bodge... i mean fix... Just think i should avoid the area until the carpark is empty... i think there's a government department in this building that's fairly keen on the environment and may have a grievance with me dumping a few litres of coolant into the carpark
