Hey guys,
went to the head shop today. Took my GT40p's there and had a chat to the guy about them. He said he would focus on the exhaust ports, and less on the intake. Does this sound right to u guys? Just to let you know, i had a chat to him about bumping up the compression to around 9.5 (he said about 20 thou off). Larger valves etc, and some cleaning/porting. I just wanted to know if he is on the right track with the work on the exhaust ports. Thanks guys, Steve |

He is on the right track mate, most likely will just touch the intakes around the pushrod bump is all. Windsor heads are shocking exhaust bias, inlets arent too bad at all.

After talking to him it would be very easy to spend alot of money. Ive got to try and limit the work on them otherwise i could have gone and bought really good alloy heads for cheaper. I know in the end it would work out better if i did, but i would really like to try and get more hp from the GT40P's |

Just do what I'm doing and port the buggers yourself. Just remember two basic rules when porting.....
1. Establish shortest path to cylinder 2. keep porting in all components linear all the way through. Now go hack and just take note of any water jackets especialy around exhaust valve. I'm doing mine at moment, I'll let you know what the results are once completed . The bottom half of the explorer manifold and exhaust ports in heads are worst offenders. |

just beware grindin into the thermactor hump in the exhaust port near the exit as theres a water jacket inside

$500 he will do this, 1000 he will do that, 1500 etc etc |

I'm probably dreaming but I'm hoping to be the first individual with a AU2 TE50/AU3 XR8 to crack the 14 second barrier!! STOCK TUNED AND INTERNALS with 150,000 hard driven kms. It has already run a 14.4 95mph tipping the scales at 1770 kg!!
After pulling her apart I was staggered at how well the whole thing is holding up. These engines are armadilos, bloody indestructable!! |

i did a up grade cam and recut the exaussht vales on an au 220 motor and we ended up getting 70 kw more out of the engine
