What the hell do I do? Need my power steering pump off by tommorow some time, Cant afford to buy a puller (they dont seem to even be available) and the f**k bolt has rounded so that you need to put a single hex socket on it to undo it. I dont know anyone that has such a puller, and I fail to see any other way, am I just screwed? car is an EL V8.

DO you need it off the bracket itself or just off the engine?

if you have access to a welder then fit old spanner to bolt, tack spanner to bolt, crack bolt loose, break tack welds by moving spanner back and forth then remove the rest with what ever works

Ok this sometimes works...
undo the other two bolts that hold the pwr steer/a/c bracket to the head. Using an open ender on the remaining bolt(the one partially covered by the pwr steer pulley) apply pressure whilst also trying to turn the whole bracket assembly in the same direction. This usually allows the bolt to be cracked enough for it to be loosened and therefore undone whilst still trapped behind the pulley. It's worked everytime I've done it except just recently on my ED...but I've got a pulley remover now so it didn't stop me. |

Yeah that didnt work unfortunatley, I tried it, and now the remaining bolt is a bit rounded. I think I'll need to get a pulley remover. Gab |
