Yes it more than likely will. A while back in performance ford mag they done an article on a top end modification to a black AU1 XR8. Consisted of AFR 165cc heads, TFS1 and 1.7 r/rockers. They ran into trouble with p/v clearance and the pistons had to be notched.

He asked about PV clearance with GT40P heads and TFS1 whereas you're providing him an example of AFR heads and TFS1 cam.
I'd trust in Matt's experience.

The car was an Auto with a high stall and 3.9 or 3.7 rear end, trickflow street heat manifold, MSD coils and leads, Trickflow phenolic spacer and made about 207rwkw and ran a mid-high 13sec pass.

I built the ute trickee now owns, trust me, I tried it, there was no PV issues.

and the heads on my car are GT40Y alloy heads. so still the same family, just a cousin.
no issues with clearance, and the thing can rev all the way to the rev limiter everyday if it wanted to no problems.
and using off the shelf items too.
i wouldnt have bought the car if i didnt trust the experience of matt

s**t, looks like they've let the secret cam spec out mate. As far as that Aussie Brutes article was concerened you were running a Ford Motorsport Hyd Roller.

Ok so basically thats just something i should keep in mind then.

So what roller rockers would everyone recommend for GT40p's & TFS 1 cam?

Ive seen some people with 1.6's, and some with 1.7's. I know sylox had 1.6's but was upgrading to 1.7's.. Also what brand ?

So far the plan looks like this:
Ported GT40P's, Ported Cobra intake, TFS 1, ( insert roller rockers here ) , 65mm T/B , 70mm MAF, Capa chip.

Well seeing as though 347stroker has done it with no dramas i would definately go for the 1.7 r/rockers over the 1.6's. Personally i would go with Yella Terra as far as brand is concerned, others may have different reccomendations though.

So i would say the plan would look something liek this:
Ported GT40P's, Ported Cobra intake, TFS 1, Y/T 1.7 r/rockers,
65mm T/B, 70mm MAF, Capa chip.

Definately sounding good mate. Good luck :D

it is a motorsport cam. its out of a T3 stroker motor. does the goods, but i'm looking at going bigger anyways. but with the combination being so reliable, i'm always looking at other options to make it quicker. and i have a few up my sleeve at the moment.
it wasnt a huge secret anyways. its been intentionally "slipped" on here a few times in different sections so yeah not a huge secret.

people dont realise what can actually be done with ford motorsport parts. i've got the ute to prove it

Appreciate your replies everyone. Next thing is some roller rockers and springs. 1.6's the go yeah?
(GT40P/TFS1/Cobra Intake)

If so, what brands does everyone recommend?

Nice choice mate.
I'd say 1.6's will be alright, but if you can get away with 1.7's guarenteed then i'd go for them, but 1.6's will keep you well and truly safe.
Yella Terra stealth pedastal should be enough for what your after, as far as springs go im not 100% sure, but i think a few people have had trouble with crane or crow springs, someone will be able to confirm, isky springs are good a i think comp make some good ones too.

I used comp springs #978 for 1.7 RR and crane 2031 cam.
They dont float or bounce at max rpm.
Richie.

Work out total valve lift on your new cam, times it by 1.6, and then 1.7.
Get the total figure for both, subtract current valve lift (measured on engine is easiest) and then add shims under valve tip/rocker to make up the difference. Wind the engine by hand, and see how you go. Be sure to subtract amount off your heads taken, and 60 thou clearance on top.

I like isky springs, and Y/T rockers are as good as any easily available.

Thanks for the reply.
I asked high performance world about the springs last week accutally and they said around $160. I have lost the email so i dont remember what type they were, but i think they were double?

By the way, im getting the stuff installed (not doing it myself), so what you said there was way over me mate. Im a tool thrower (get angry, hurt knuckles, throw tools at side of shed) so no good when it comes to EFI Engines lol

Nah not really. None that i would let touch it anyway. hah.
Ill do most of what i can, and leave what i cant. Plan on getting a tune after it so whatever needs doing (insert workshop here) can finish it off for me.

Still got a fair few things to buy and do before I worry about installation yet anyway.
