Hi all!
Im a freshie to the group so I'd like to start by saying hi. I just recently bought a fully optioned AU3 XR8. Its already got a cat back exhaust but im wanting to do a little more to it. What mods can be done to give it a good power increase and stll keep the engine bay looking pretty stock? I look forward to your ideas.

well with a cappa flash tuner you can put our car on a dyno and tyno tune it, i red an article on a stock au 220kw that made around 15 kw more by changing air/fuel ratio

The CAPA Flash tuner, is a pretty good tuning tool...just need a good tuner to go along with it
Avoid the Powerchip. A Bluepower, or G&D CAI would be a good choice. Leave the stock TB and MAF, they are not a restriction at this level. A bigger cam, with valvesprings to suit would be my next step. Have a look outside the motor as well...shorter diff gears (say 3.91 or 4.11:1), and a higher stall converter if its an auto(say 2800-3000rpm) will make it hammer off the line and through the gears. The very first mod I did to my AU1 XR8 was a bigger cam, everything else was stock...and I would do the same again. |

go a set of pacemaker extractors, cold air intake, k & n air filter, an edit and 3.9 diff gears should have you into the 13's. i ran a 13.9 in mine with cold air intake, exhaust extractors and 3.9's

Basically a breif explanation of why you would want a bigger cam is that, a "larger" aftermarket cam will open the inlet & exhaust valves further and for a longer duration. The upgradedvalve springs are to allow for the increased lift from the "larger" cam.
