Hi All,
In connection with my previous post about workshops, I'm looking to rebuild the engine in my (Auto) ED. Naturally, I want to warm it up a bit - but not to the point of being ridiculous, as it is a daily driver. The baseline that I'm starting with is an EB GT SPEC engine with a spacer (a la EL GT), GT Spec Exhaust and driveline....and the standard ED computer. Please note that I've described it as a 'SPEC' engine - i.e. it isn't a genuine EB GT engine. I'm at the point where I have a barely-commenced engine specification of what I want, and I need a hand with finishing what's left - which isn't any minor amount of work. Items that I am SET on using are the following: 65mm tb, maf, 24lb injectors, Upper & lower GT intakes, Roller Rockers....all STD EB/EL GT items. Ford Racing double row timing chain. Re-use existing crank (spun 10/10). Gaskets - probably Fel-Pro I'm also set on the idea of using Turbo-swirl SVO Motorsport heads also. Not sure which exact model yet. Items that are still OPEN are as follows: 1) Combustion Chamber size 2) Valve sizes 3) Compression ratio 4) Cam spec. 5) Pistons 6) Piston rod length .....so yeah...I didn't get far with my spec and its only the fun things that I need help with Given that I've already specified the SVO/Motorsport heads, that defines the window of available valves and chamber sizes. As the car is a daily driver, she seems to always be between 1000 - 3000 RPM, so torque down low is of more use than top end performance. Also, I'd rather not have to change the fuel spec (RON) either - just in case. Don't even ask me about head gasket thickness....I can't figure out the major parts, let alone figure out how thick the gaskets need to be. I've been reading people's suggestions made elsewhere and relating that back to part specs and doing the calcs as per the motorsport catalogue for the past two weeks now....but I just seem to be going around in circles. Can anyone give me some ideas..or at least, point me in the right direction? Thanks, Will.

I would go the Explorer / AU inlet.. 65mm t.body..
AFR or Trick Flow heads with 60 -62cc chambers... The std rods are o/k as GT spec / power .. If you want to upgrade get the lightest rods available .. Plenty of budget forged pistons out there.. Summit, Jegs etc Have good quality assemblies rods and pistons with rings supplied.. Cam ?? TFS 1 is popular use cam specs close with LSA no lower than 112.. From 212 to 220 duration .520 lift on 112 / 114 will give good streetable cam.. Make sure pistons have enough valve notch's so there's piston to valve issues.. Get it ballanced, all will be fine.. Aim for 9.5 compression with alloy heads you can run any fuel.. The GT wasn't any stronger than H.O engine .. Just better induction.. As with ALL Windsors they like a good exhaust system.. Sound better for it too..
