Very interesting, ugly but interesting.
I have alway wondered why nobody has made a variable cam timing adaptor for V8's etc, i.e. directly connected to the camshaft.

well sounds like a great system, for a old engine, but varible cam lift isnt really for power gain maybe slighty but not much, it only helps for fule eccnemy and emissions, well on the new varible valve lift system on modern cars, and people with old v8s arnt looking for that really.
i cant see how this system gives the car alot more power. maybe slight but not as much as they say. id think very hard about buying this sytem before i payed the money for it. i dont know what you guys think |

I emailed them to find out the price, just curious, looks like to many things to go wrong for me, and looks dog ugly with the motor etc sitting on top of the rocker cover.

That sounds pretty good considering how much standard decent roller rockers are, that is if that is AUD not USD.

well good luck gettin it workin on canted valve heads..
but i tihnk its ingenious.. who knows, you may actually NEED something like this in 20 years time when you're beloved pushrod v8 needs to pass bi-yearly emissions tests etc etc..

O/K on that cartoon but getting them to work in real engine is something different? Plus it realy changes valve lift more than timing...How does it keep the same phasing on all cylinders???

f**k if I know, all smoke and mirrors to me (joking) I have to agree with Graeme, looks good in theory but I would like to see some independent results. Phasing between banks would be the more interesting thing to know, especially after a bit of wear and tear.

I think variable cam timing would have been a more reliable and fail safe idea conversion than the complicated rocker setup of the Hotrocker.
After working on, test driving many and taking a VCT 4.0L Fairlane on a few decent trips, the VCT made the 4.0L feel like a different engine. It alway made me wonder how much further they could have gone with it on the SOHC 6.
