We have test this and prove other wise in safe conditons. Drags and a Dyno is comming up soon. I will be in Queensland when a T&T night is on at willowbank. !!! I will be visiting DynoSteve at Redcliffe too. Im sure he knows what he is doing. Worlds fastest Clevo powered car. I just cant see an EL XR6 being faster than an BA/BF 8 in either 3V or 4V configuration. AS I HAVE SAID myself and voxace have proved this. i agree u just have to take a ride in your car to realise its bloody quick

fordfalcon460, dont underestimate the 3v, they have the potential to become a beast with a lil money spent on it. they have such good torque down low and open up so nicely to mods
voxace, only reason why i can think of that jmc beat you is if he has mods done. cos a worked 6 would be in mid 14s? (just guesstamating) have you had any work done jmc? |

I wouldn't say he beat me, it was about even.
But still judging off quarter mile times I should thrash him, but it is not so. Car is running a little bit better now though, we should try again. But anyway, that's why I said it's a bit different on the street. Standing start on a track, a manual can pull a better 60 footer, and easily knock off 0.2s. On the street I just lose traction. The other advantage the V8 has it it really picks up nicely above 150km/h, where weight starts becoming less of a factor and aerodynamic drag comes in. The car with more power wins in the end. And JMC's BA is stock. |

{USERNAME} wrote: Thanks for the advice guys, i think i had the wrong idea about a ba ghia v8. I used to have an EL 6 and it was pretty slow, so i'll probably look towards a mid 90's bmw 540i or something.
when you say mid 90's, if you mean an E34 (up to 1996) those 540i's wouldn't come close to the BA Ghia for comfort, and i'd also be surprised if the performance is any better than the Ford and the E34's are looking very dated these days especially inside. the E39 is a MUCH better car, but you'll be paying over $30K-$35K for anything half decent, whereas BA ghia v8's are going for low $20K's with probably 1/4 the k's of the bmw's and the Ford is still more comfortable and more powerful and with easy options to make the performance way better than the bmw. only thing in the bmw's favour is that people who don't know any better will think you're a millionaire

beyond 180? are you sure it hasnt had a tune? rev limiter is set to 5250rpm or something similar which cuts out at around 180km. something doesnt sound right here if you have gone past 180 and are beating work 6's!

yep it goes well past 180 and into 230 (couldnt see on the dash had to use Speed Alert). and revs to 52/5300?? and voxace knows it will snap your neck into place fairly good as well.
excellent throttle response in D or Performance ! How are the utes geared 3.23 or 3.08 ?? |

really? my ELXR6 could pull till it ran out of speedo. i'd expect the BA's could pull around 250? It depends on the gears in the ghia i suppose.... |

ive heard is that FPV GT's and typhoons pull around 250-260kmh while the ford xr's and 3v v8's are limited to 230kmh and the 6's 190kmh

whats going on with my ute then? i've just got a stupid single spinner on it so i got no idea what the ratio is. what ratio have you got on it? i wouldnt have thought a diff could have made a 50km difference
i cant wait for a tune and new diff gears! |

Utes are probably speed limited at 180.
It's got nothing to do with the diff. |

ummm if my ute revs to 5200/5300 and jmcs fairmont revs to 5200/5300 wouldnt that mean we would hit the same speed?
