I have towed a car trailer with a pulsar on the back of it a N12et turbo numerous times from sydney to canberra no problems total weight of trailer & car 2300kg's is it a boat or a*** float you want to tow or do you want to know the max the car can pull?

unless your towbar has a specification plate on it that says otherwise, i wouldnt try towing more than 1000 kilos with it

I have a 1500KG tow bar setup & the tongue is off a X series falcon so its stronger then the E series factory jobs its chunkier then a E series one as well thats what you get when sourcing older parts more heavier & last longer

it doesnt matter worth s**t what the maximum the car can pull, what matters is the load capacity of your towbar, especially if something goes wrong or the cops pull you over
how big is your boat?

what kinda boat? just a tinny/ski boat/etc?
given sufficient traction, a strong enough towbar and a powerful enough drivetrain, 2000 kilo's is well witin possibilities (XD's had an aftermarket 2000kg towbar, and it shares the same floorpan as XC's), and at the max, i reckon it'd pull 3-4000+ for short periods

I've pulled a two tonne trailer with an XF before.
I pull a big trailor with the dragster on it now. The total weight of the trailor and dragster would be at least 1600kg.

I think the laws haven't changed with you can only tow as much as the towing car weighs and maximum towing capacity rating of the tow bar.
Saying this, how many people have been done for towing more than the cars weight, I towed a V8 HZ on a heavy car trailer from Singleton NSW to Kinglake Vic (close to 1000km I think), using my old XE 4.1 Fairmont wagon, not a problem until the throttle cable kinked due to heat and over adjusting, at about 15kms from target (slow trip from there on). I have towed much heavier loads than this with it too, but for short distances. (Old owners used to tow a horse float with two horses everywhere.

is that a question of difficulty? our old XC used to not onli tow but carry about heaps of steel and wood in one trip in the car and on the roofracks. i remember when i was about 8yrs old the tyres were a bit flat with all the weight we had on there (not counting a trailor)
a reliable model meant it towed reliable well....we towed s**t loads on the 8 trips to Eastern states it ran edit: i forgot to mention ours was a 6 (so im wrong to post in the v8 workshop but right to post in terms of the model) |

any extra weight like for instances 4 other passengers or a boot full of s**t will weigh you down but you will still get the horse power but just chew more fuel and if towing for extended periods of time if you have a 4speed auto drive in 3rd with power button on as the car will be slugish if you don't
