You were also asking how far you can push it. They are examples of broken ones, so I am assuming you were chasing a "safe" power level, in which case 450-500hp @ the fly would be.

Q: How much power can the stock block handle?
A: There are several answers to this, do you want a combo you never have to worry about, a semi-reliable combo, or a time-bomb / glory machine? For a reliable setup 450rwhp seems to be the limit, anything above that and you are asking for trouble. For a glory pass the stock blocks on turbomustangs.com have seen 600rwhp. You must also take into account RPM. Most guys on turbomustangs.com keep their turbo combos below 6000rpm. But if you are making 500rwhp and revving to 7000rpm it is a safe bet you will crack before the 6000rpm 550rwhp guy. Read this part in particular For a reliable setup 450rwhp seems to be the limit, anything above that and you are asking for trouble. My translation to this means 450 rear wheel horse power, so add about an extra 100 hp with a auto behind it which would equal to 550 flywheel horse power. If i made a mistake plz correct me

thats very interesting.. I'm glad I didn't bother buying expensive internals on my capri rebuild now. Esp as I'm only aiming for 300-400hp.

Those dart blocks weigh a lot more than the stock block too.
If you use a 351 block, you have to use a 351 crank, so you just have a 351 then as the deck heights are different too. |
