Tops info there Pete.
I wasn't aware that you did the encoder wheel conversion. For $275 it isn't worth f**k around doing it any other way.
If I do this next year do you need me to send you a balancer to be converted or can you supply one? I would like to use something like a powerbond if theres one available or do you have a better option?
Just want to do things properly and once this time around.

Well, on that note, maybe its time I got me an AU and slotted my 51 in there. That could be fun for s**t and giggles. Tops info Pete, and well researched Matt.

Cheers.
Amazing what a few people chucking ideas around can achieve.
An AU2 Forte with the 351 , FG XR8 brakes and no heavy s**t would be a weapon hill climber and be ultra reliable.

Pete. When I spaced the dress forward on mine the AU water pump pulley did make contact to run on the belt but there was about a quarter inch of bely hanging off the front. Would get by in an emergency but I wasn't happy with it as a long term thing. I figured the belt could quite easily walk forward and potentially come off the pulley under high revs.
I reckon E series water pump and underdrives is defiantly the way to go.

Now we just need someone over here with a 351 block we can try this out on. I have the AU front dress here.

What is stopping us from running a complete au front dress?.

Ive been hanging on the 351 idea for awhile, for me its the encoder wheel and cam synchro that is a problem.

So if the balancer and encoder wheel are sorted we just need to work on the cam synchro right??.

Read my posts on the last page dude.
It has the answers about the front dress and cam sync sensor there.
