I need help , Car is a 4.9 lt 1995 EF Fairmont.
I found a water leak coming from one of the heater hoses at the rear of the engine,I thought. After getting the bloody thing off (not easy to get to) I found there was nothing wrong with it. It seems to be running from under this pipe where the hose connects to. I follow this pipe and it runs under the big alloy thingy (sorry don't know the name) on top of the engine and connects to another hose that goes to the water pump,I think. Any clues and can I take this alloy thing off myself so I can get access? The leak starts somewhere in the middle. |

I'd say your big alloy thingy might be your upper intake manifold, does it have 5 litre v8 on it? And is the part you think is leaking a black pipe with a large heater hose at the firewall end and the other goes to the water pump?

Either that or it is one of the crossover pipes from the TB to the lower of the inlet, which is an even bigger pain to get at.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's one of the two little hoses that run to the spacer between the TB and upper manifold. GREAT fun changing those.
Only available as genuine parts too, IIRC. Mike
