I'm throwing around the idea of converting the EB to V8. I have found a guy wrecking a EB XR8.

Now i know i need the:
engine
trans
i'm gunna get the tail shaft and 3.45 LSD
computer
engine bay loom
k frame

now is there anything else? are the fuel lines the same? my EB is a EB1 so it has the TCM like the V8's do so i guess that'll all be the same. just unplug it I6 one remove, fit V8 one and plug back in.

Same deal with the engine computer?

does the engine bay loom unplug from the dash loom somewhere?

cheers in advance

imo, unless its a late el or au 5.0l i wouldnt bother..
the std 5.0l eb-ef only has 4 kw more than the xr6 motor in your eb.. a lot of work for the sound of a v8..

but from what i've heard the V8's are easier to make power. and after driving my bro's 5L Fairlane NF i just love the sound :D

not really easier, yes more performance stuff available but at near twice the price of i6 stuff..
i sold my eb xr8 because of this, at the end of the day, my ea s pack at the time was .5 sec faster down the 1/4 mile and drank 6ltrs per 100km less in fuel compared to the xr8...

not trying to talk you out of it, just dont expect it to be a fire breathing power house. because imo you will be dissapointed..

but it is your choice.

anyway the dash looms are the same, providing the are both series 1 auto or manual..

if his interior is mint, then some seats door trims & carpet is easy to swap over

if the new car is 4wd height, again, springs & shocks are piece of piss

alot easier than converting to V8 and trying to sort out all the bits & pieces to make it run properly.

look at below car for example, .......

exactly this. i would know that it's not the same car. after the guy told me 2k for the engine and stuff etc and 3k for the car, thats me out. was a good idea while it lasted.

may just have to get a auto with less kms that actually engine brakes and doesn't overheat when trying to grab a liney.
and buy a 1636 cam
and diff gears. hopefully that'll drop my 1/4mile time to the low 15's

You should be able to get an entire 5.0 wreck for about $1500 or less these days. And luckily peak power is not what it's all about. There maybe only a 4kw difference between 6 and 8 but the 8 makes much more torque and at lower rpm than the 6. Besides a 6 always sounds like a 6....f**k!
