As most of you are aware, i am in the process of fitting a big cube(427) stroker 351 windsor to the 5.0. The motor in question runs 10.6:1 compression with 58cc heads. The heads chosen for the project are AFR225's. The intake manifold will be and Edelbrock Victor junior Lower for a 351. This motor in carburettor form is clamed to make 495hp with steel heads and an 850 pumper. What i need is the sizing or a formula for the sizing for this motors injectors. I am looking at making 495hp at least with a 300 shot of NOS as well for the track. I figure that 48-50lb's would be adequate, but Ford Motorsport dont make injectors this big( they go from 42 and then 150), so does anybody know where i can source some.
Also, can anyone recomend an exhaust shop in sydney that can custom make some headers to fit the 351 into EF engine bay, as there will be clearance issues using my current Genie extractors. Brett

Brett,
As a general rule of thumb N/A engines run about 0.5 BSFC. At this level 30's running 90% duty are good for approx 430hp, 36's about 520hp and 42's about 605hp. Looks like 36's are just the shot for your engine. At the moment however, you can get 42's for less than 36's; $269 vs $350 odd. Obviously your nitrous will run run it's own fuel system so that's a separate issue. Pete. |

Cheers Pete
Love your work. Thats one less thing i need to worry about. Priced up the exhaust 2day. Roughly $3500 for custom mild steel headers, then twin 3in to cat, then twin 3in to a single after the diff in 3in. From headers to first join mild steel, then stainless for the reast of the system. Does this sound about right Brett

No wuckers Brett,
$3500 sounds too much to me. It'd have to be all stainless or all Jethot coated or encrusted with diamonds or something. Or maybe I'm just out of touch with current exhaust pricing? I tend to buy the pipe and make my own. Have you looked into that oval section exhaust tubing...makes ground clearance a little better. Pete. |

Brett Have yo looked into those world engines at all? they have a 460 that fits in the place of a SB by using bigger bores and mild stroke, it seems realy good value as it is 575 hp with lower compression ratios and a carby, the sky would be the limmit with EFI!

Funny you should mention that Kenny. The engine i am after is a world products 427 stroker 351. It was originally a carby job with iron heads but i have asked world for alloy heads and injection manifold.

Brett how much have you looked into it so far? as I am considering a similar build, but using 4V clevo heads after I finnish the ports, and get specs to modify a manifold, the only other manifold option is to use a Boss 4X webber and have 8X 50mm throttle boddies, but that is a big(ger) job!

Brett,
When you say rebuilt auto...do you mean BTR? Pete. |

Yep, there are some guys here in Sydney that claim they can build a 1000hp 4speed for the XR6 Turbos that are esentially indestructable, I will see if their claims are correct

Liverpool Exhaust do alot of custom work.
I assume you want to have the beast street legal. You know you will have to go and do the RTA drivecycle emissions test ! So when you first slap it together you would be best off using the smallest injectors and cam possible to make it tick over. And once that test is passed, slap all the good gear into it.
