Nope 22L/100 is not good.
Some things I've noticed... 75mm t-body is too big and will cause a torque loss down low which will hurt your fuel ecomomy. What is this larger MAF? What size are the header primaries? How do these 20" wheels compare to the stock rolling diameter? Flash it back to stock and retest fuel economy. Changed your HEGO's lately? |

Just for something to go off, my AU S1 5.0 Fairlane gets around 13.2l/100klms. I sit in traffic for about 10-15 mins per day and about the same again on the highway. So i suppose you could call that fairly average driving.
Thats with big mouth intake, full exhaust system on 19's. I would personally suggest you check out your oxy sensors, because if they are stuffed it will through out your AFR's pretty bad. I think i got 2 off ebay for about $40 delivered??? and only take about 5 mins to replace (need a 22mm spanner though).

A lot of the standard windsor 8's will chew through 13 ~ 14+ L/100 for stop/start city driving. Get 'em on the highway and they can drop down to 8L/100. But 22L/100 is shocking!
I would look at the obvious culprits first such as your MAF & HEGO's. But you also said "other tune" so is it perhaps a tuning issue?

Assuming it's not a right foot or mechanical problem. Return it to factory standard MAF & ecu, clean both MAF sensor hot-wires and see what economy you get. That will determin if your O2 sensors are the problem. Like others have said, you should get 8-10 L/100km on a highway cruise which is the driving condition where O2 sensors are most important.
If it's not the O2's, then the bigger MAF and/or tune is the likely culprit. Start by cleaning & re-fitting the bigger MAF and re-test the economy with the modified tune. Still no good, then run all diagnostic scans (KOER will pick up a failed MAF sensor, but not a dirty MAF or one that doesn't match the tune). If the MAF is OK and no other fault codes are generated, then it's likely the tune does not match the components.

Firstly, reset your trip comp average kmph and drive your normal run for a week and see what you get.
I do 100% city driving and I get anywhere between 17 - 19l / 100km. Average speed according to trip is anywhere between 28 - 31kmph. Nothing wrong with my car as I get 9.2l/100km highway cruise. 22l is abit high but if your average speed is about 25kmph it's about right.

not to sure what type of maf it is it was al ready upgraded on the car
how do i clean the maf? the 20''s are about an inch and a bit larger than the stock rolling diameter "u can defenately notice loss in take off" the trip computer is out of a 6cyl fairmont could that have anything to do with it coz teh original one stuffed up? the cappa flash tuner i have has 3 tunes atm factory p1 and p2, on p1 it doesnt smell as rich and defenatley doesnt have as much guts in it on on p2 tune it smells very rich but boots alot harder. im thinking from running it rich maybe ive failed the spark plugs im goin to get new spark plugs maybe leads clean the maf. can i clean the oxy sensors? and run it on the less harsh tune and see what i get 90% of my driving is in the city and for bugger all mainly to gym and back which is 2 k drive p.s im sitting on 24.8 l/100 atm i boot it here and there but geeze this is F**k

HEGO = oxy sensors on each exhaust header.

Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen sensor... Tells the computer the AFR of the exhaust gases... One of the sensors used to determine whether to squirt more or less juice into the cylinder...

Just out of stupid random curiosity, how many K's are you getting out of a tank without reffering to the trip computer... ie fill up and reset trip meter on dash... and also, what kind of driving are you doing??

The car will warm up much quicker with some normal driving, than it will idling away in cold start enrichment throwing fuel out the tail pipe. Yes, if the wheel+tyre size is drastically different to stock, the odometer + speed + therefore the trip comp calculations will be out of whack.

Try the BASICs..
Check thermostat and coolant temp sensor... Leads and plugs... Any leaks around front exhaust can throw out 02 sensors also..
