After selling my Super Pursuit 2 years ago, the blue oval bug bit me again. So hello again fordmods!
Please bear with me team, I need help to feel reassured about my purchase EB is a damn tricky year as they made several changes and the models aren't always clear. This is Series 1, pre Tickford. Feburary 92 build The car is Lemans Red - not sure if GL had this colour? Trim code G2 - (Bolsters and sports head rest) - tick Engine code Z (v8) - tick Has the xr8 sticker - tick Bootlid lip spolier - tick Sports cluster - tick VIN (6FPAAA)JG25NRxxxxx JG - Broadmeadows AUS 25 - GL S NR - Feb 92 Now - etis is displaying basics only, its simply says Falcon SEFI V8 (high performance) Lemans Red ***Two areas of confusion*** EBs did not get XR model codes or this would be a whole lot easier. Model Code 18134 which is Sedan Sports 91 However shouldn't this be 18234 for Sedan sports 92?? (this could be due to being a very early 92)? Then when I rang ford to confirm she said it "sounded correct" but then said LSD was not selected. Aren't all XR8s LSD??? Could that mean its an optioned up GL? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ps Happy new year!

For further information
My first Ford was a Black Pearl EBII XR6 manual. It had smartlock ABS Bodykit Different trim (same bolsters but darker inserts) I'm unfamilar with what options were truly available for early series 1 The XR8 is central locking but not remote, is it supposed to be remote? (not smartlock but something else) I was told by Ford No ABS (which was not an option) No PWR windows (not an option) No Cruise (not an option) It looks decently optioned Options selected; Optioned up with Clarion headunit - (since removed) Sports Alloys - (since changed) Rear speakers Towback (tongue since removed) And aircon (but I believed this to be standard??) She said LSD is not ticked. I'm so damn confused. Maybe it's because it is supposed to be standard??

Called Ford again who (bless, them for trying to figure out old E-series info) have stated it's sports model.
So that means S and being V8 means S XR8 - I might have stumbled on something here. I mean how early were they making these damn things? This was built in Feb before production officially launched in Aug. (from what I've read). Has anyone seen them Feb or earlier? It was a barn find stored next to an old VN SS.

Hey mate, long time no speak! Hope you're well!
{USERNAME} wrote: maybe .... maybe not wasn't the V8 reintroduced near the end of the series one EB But what else could it be? After 3 days of searching I found no such "known" car as a S1 EB GL V8 - (There is a V8 GLi though in EBII) - and if there was, surely it would have the GL model code right? Also I don't think you could trim any other than sports with G2 {USERNAME} wrote: i have a 'S' EB & a 'S XR6' garnish here ... the 1st one i have the plates from, but 2nd i don't so that's not much help . S XR6 was released in EBII only - so a series 1 Inline 6 sports pack would just be labelled S (like EA)

{USERNAME} wrote: wasn't the V8 reintroduced near the end of the series one EB Yes, the tricky part in all of this is the year. The Vin supports the manufacture date and the Model code supports something very very early This could very well be one of Fords first S XR8's

Now for anyone watching, I hope this clarifies everything - but please, I am still welcoming any further input, as mentioned above, this is a tricky era so I welcome any refutation to the below information;
*Note this is Sedan only** *Note this does not cover Fairmont etc* By looking through several sites and comparing VIN records for series 1/2 GL/GLI/S I have determined that; Vin#JG25 is Aus Broadmeadows Sports (S) Vin#JG23 is GL EB1 Model Code 181314 - Falcon S - If you have an S model with a V8 IT IS classed XR8 by Ford - it also looks to be the introduction of the recaro cloth seat (as we know them in EB2 and ED) EB1 Model Code 181314 - Falcon S -if you have an S model with I6 it is a 3.9 Spac (like the EA) - IT IS NOT XR6 - the seats look the same as EA Spac EB1 GL Model code is 18133 - There looks to be no v8 options avail series 1 GL - (please refute me here) -Also no Spac trim avail EB2 Model Code 182314 - Falcon S XR8 By Tickford - Recaro Seats smartlock etc EB2 Model Code 182314 - Falcon S XR6 4.0 Litre by Tickford - Recaro Seats smartlock etc This also introduced the GLi - You could option V8's into GLi Sedans and Wagons - but you had to select your diff etc. Interior could not be optioned as XR So to summarise, if you're wanting to confirm what your Series 1 is Check your Vin code Check your Model code Check your Engine Code Check your Trim code If you have a S1 S with a V8 it is an XR8 But if you have S1 S with a I6 it is an Spac 3.9
