Well as a handfull of ya would know as I don't post very often I am looking to install a bigger motor in my fairmont . Well I ordered it on Thursday last week and it should be here TOMORROW. My question is I was talking to the bloke at the wreckers and he said he was told the H.O upper will bolt straight on to the truck lower does anyone know if this is true? I am determined to make it fit under the bonnet and I have a few tricks up my sleave if they don't work you might see a home/custom made manifold so if you know anything about harmonic's ect or web sites please post them to.

Lol. I wouldnt say that... i just wasnt online yesterday :)

Regarding the manifold - it should be pretty easy to tell if they're gonna bolt up if you can get a look at the lower... but wouldnt the HO upper be s**t on a 351 anyways? They tend to choke the 302 a fair bit as it is!

This is a 351W i assume? I also assume you've checked out pete (xr9ute)'s words of wisdom on the topic?

Sounds awesome tho - you should get pics up ASAP!

I see. Might be better to target an AU intake manifold? Should look factory-ish but with much better performance. I'd avoid the HO at all costs...

If you want an HO upper to play around with, i have a polished one sitting at home - wouldnt be worth much if someone wanted to buy it...

As far as I know they are different... I thought the 351 truck manifold had rectangular (yet curved a bit) ports whereas the HO manifold has more of an oval port. I could be wrong though... it's been many years since I last saw a truck intake.

Nope, HO upper will NOT fit a std truck lower of either 351 or 302.
The bolt pattern is different, the port spacing is different and the port shape is different.
If you had a Lightning GT40 lower you could fit a Cobra/Sprint,GT40 or Explorer upper. Of course 351 GT40 lowers are no longer produced new.
This is why I used an Edelbrock performer 351 intake on my ute.
Your only other option is to use a Holley systemax2 upper which shares the same bolt pattern but the much larger and higher flowing 302 truck port size. So you'll have to port or more correctly hog the s**t out of your truck lower to suit. This means swapping sides with your T-body though which means fuel rail issues, harness issues and battery location issues.

Pete.
