Lean mixture update.
Cleaned maf. Ran car on my dyno on petrol with the lpg mixer in place. result: 110rwkw and 12:1 a/f at full throttle. next, Removed lpg mixer, rerun on dyno. result: 115rwkw 12:1 mixture. although i have a rich/normal mixture now i think the car should producde more power than what i am getting. Its clear from my tests that the lpg mixer which has a 55mm ID is a significant restriction in the intake but the stock MAF is more significant as it only allows enough extra flow for 5rwkw. I am pretty sure i will take the lpg equipment of the engine now after these tests. Which maf sould i go for. are the larger Au mafs connections and calibration suitable for the e series.

12:1 is exactly what you should get with the stock EEC. 115rwkw is a bit low but that all depends on the type of dyno and the opperator, I wouldn't be that concerned. A larger MAF on its own may not give you all that much. The AU MAF is 70mm but can cause you to run lean although some engines run fine. The best option was Pro-M but they just went out of business, PM MrLandau from Extreme Velocity (http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=26) and he may be able to help you out.

Lucky bastard, having your own dyno would be handy. Last dyno comp here in SA, most of the V8's were getting 110-120rwkw with similar mods to you so I don't think there is any problem there.

yeah the dyno is great. before we got this new dyno we had an old school VANE dyno that maxed out at 125KW, no computer printout screen nothing, then we had a freak storm and it got flooded out. Insurance paid for the new one.
had a AU2 XR8 rebel manual on there a few weeks back, 170 rwkw. pretty much stock apart from extractors.

mmm thats a bit high unless it had a lot of hidden mods, they should be around the 140rwkw mark. Explorer and Pro-M should get you to around 130-140rwkw maybe but the heads will be holding you back with any more than that. |

I have an opinion too!
The EL GT's and I believe the FBT's ran 65mm with an explorer intake and GT40P heads and I did see a completely stock EL GT make 155rwkw at the Hallam Dyno Day last year. So knowing that, you can make a guess of where your Fairlane would be heading should you pop those items on. If you were just to do the TB and the intake then you'll make a little less but seeing as you have all the bolt-ons then you'll get pretty close to that 155rwkw mark. I would have said I'm surprised at your dyno result compared to mine but all dyno's will give different readings for different reasons on different days ( read climate and machine tolerances into that ). If you're willing perhaps you can share with us your approach to power gain. Are you approaching it with money considerations in mind? Or perhaps with basic modifications in mind?

edxr8, The rebel is a 220kw model and manual with exanust and extractors, i did several runs with it all consistantly around 170rwkw.
Vic, i am currently looking at the most cost effective mods to gain power, so takeing both into account. Maybe we can organise to run your car on my dyno for a comparison, i think you are local to me, would be a good experiment if your keen.

That idea has got legs. As I mentioned during the last Cruise Meet, I only have bolt on's with a stock motor. Is that what you're after? Just a basic comparison?

Hey there, its not a problem with the dyno or the guy! its simply the engine itself, I expected a lot more out of my EL XR8 too ,but its quite clear now :these engines have the sophistication of a house brick and are not a cheap option to extract "decent" power. Why didn't ford base an engine for the later models off a proven performer? atleast meeting halfway with a clevo $3,000 clevo-Around 380hp $3,000 windsor- waste of time! maybe 250hp ,if you are lucky. any one wanna buy an XR8? going cheap!
