good ol ford technology lol. took a nc for a test the other day but the body felt crappy, as in stretched out from towing or something like that. went very well tho. the back doors rattled a bit. not as solid feeling as even the ef falcon, which i was bit dissapointed about. the uncle has an na and its pretty surefooted damn 3.9 tho.

what size tank and mileage are you getting out of the 8?
mines getting 400k to about 65 litres of LPG costs me bout 30 bucks a week for gas.

got a 80ltr (70 ltr usable) tank, get about 350kms out of it,but i dont run it dry tend to fill up just after red light comes on so maybe another 50kms on top.

get an 8 more reliable and no head gasket issues.

yes that is one of the main reasons. good strong engine to start with, the efs have something like 180kw dont they?? so thats a good start. to be perfectly honest im not that worried about the performance, its just that WICKED v8 sound :D my engines bout had the pork stalk tho. leaks rattles etc. its had a hard life lol. (ive got a 6)

ah thats the one. yeah rude was good, he was cool let me take some pics, but the cunny funt kept making me laugh when i was trying to take em. LOL.
i had a read of the haines manual the other day and noticed "180" kw on the output on the ef engine, but yes i had thought it was a bit less than that. they feel like they dont have to work as hard as a six to do the same work either. wouldnt mine an ef v8 wagon. call it lurch or something. different but useful at the same time. wagons are the shiznits.

Not that I need much persuasion but I lashed out a bought the good old V8 (If you could call $2700 lashing out). Actually it's an EB Fairmont Ghia, 5 litre auto, power everything and with what I recall to be the optional sports package (I could be wrong it may have been standard) comprising the leather and velour interior and the cross spoke wheels etc. I even has a stainless steel exhaust system. If anyone is interested have a look in the member’s gallery. Anyway what to do now we are now a three V8 family. One by EA V8, one by XC V8 and one by Land Rover Discovery V8. Oh, plus one EA wagon throttle body 6 and a 900 Triumph Trophy. No wonder I'm broke most the time.

So far I'm impressed as it drives very smoothly, will loose rear wheel traction of the lights and handles better than any EB I have ever driven. Of I have driven a though including work vehicles when they were brand new.

Now if any one has any tips for small inexpensive improvements I'm all ears.

Mark :D

i have a 1991 eb xr8 with only 128,000 ks on the clock
never had any major probs with the engine except for the
sump gasket spliting resulting in an oil leak other than that it goes like a bat out of hell and still feels really tight on the road.
where ya point it it goes no matter how fast ya going.sad to say it shuts down at 180 kph

Is there away to by pass the electrinics that restrict most late fords to 180 kph? Or should I just browse the forum and the answer will be there.

i think the only way to take out the restriction is to chip the pcm
i heard of ppl holding it flat out at a 180 k until it stops shutting down
they reackon this works but who knows sounds like s**t to me

No I have not had this beast up to 180 but in a previous life I worked in a job that occassionally permitted such speeds and the Fords always cut out at 170 to 180 whilst the rotten Vauxall Carltons/Opel Omegas (I think they call them Commodores out here and pretend that they are Aussie cars) would go past that speed.

yea, you can bypass the speed limiter, but its not exactly a good idea, just read data_mine 's speed limiter removal thread to see why....

The stock tailshafts aren't any good for high speeds unless you change them.
