G'day all
How many kilometres could one expect to get out of an EB series 1 V8 if the same is looked after? Reason I'm asking is because I'm looking to purchase one, to drive for a while then use as a donner for an EA wagaon project, that as traveled 240,000 km. It dosen't appear to blow smoke and is impressively quiet whilst running. Thanks MAW

your car will be a pile of rust before a windsor dies and when your car is rust the windsor will still start.
(not reffering to your car having rust or being a rust bomb either )

How long's a piece of string?
Seriously it's impossible to tell, too many variables... but 240 isn't that much especially for an 8 that's been looked after. |

I thought it was a piece of string sort of thing but I was curious as I have not had a V8 with that may kilometres on the clock. In fact my current toy, a 302 Cleveland XC Fairmont has only done 180,000 km and purrs like a kitten.
As for rust you must be referring to the other maker of family size cars. Thanks

well mine has done just over 430000 and still going strong so if you look after them they last a long time.

If you look after them, regular oil and filter changes, keep the spark bright, treat them nicely, with the odd "clean out" run, they will run forever.

When I was in U.S a few years back there ws an F150 fitted with ceramic coated extractors. Guaranteed by Ford to last a MILLION miles....
At 952.000 he took his venerable F150 into Ford with leaking extractors.. The engine was still in original condition as in not overhauled.. They fitted new extractors and Ford got $100.000,000 worth of advertising...

That sounds like the old VW style advertising of the 60s!
One such advert had "LEMON" with a beetle on it, and in the fine print it said this beetle was rejected in a quality control assessment due to having a blemish on the chrome strip above the glovebox, lol But I'm straying from the topic here... ~1,000,000 miles without a rebuild! That's incredible! |

My AU has done around 227, runs smooth and quiet and doesn't use a drop of oil.

The only oil that mine 'uses' seems to be a leaky PCV valve, other than that there is no blue smoke. Thats with about 210k.
