i thought it may be interesting for others looking to note there are at least 3 different size C6's for big block. there is the car type, the truck type and the 4x4 type. the truck type is too long to use in a car.

I was going to say just get the just parts magazine and ring up any truck wrecker till I read this. Didn't know there was three different types but many of the truck 2WD C6's are advertised as ideal passenger car conversion gearboxes. Food for thought eh? |

First of all which type of big block... FE or Lima?
I've got an FE C6. I also know where a toploader and bellhousing is for a Lima. Pete. |

Ok but, it could be an FMX block 400C which has a small block pattern.
Pete. |

Pete. True you threw a cat into the bag, guessing he knows what bolt pattern he had.

I wish it was a small block pattern! but for me its just the big block pattern, it uses the same bellhousing as the 429/460 ford engines. i have located a place in the states that makes bellhousings to fit a C4 to the big block housing, so if i can arrange shipping i might go with that, cause C4s are plentiful and can be built to take some serious power. another reason why id rather get the bellhousing is that if i use a C i will need to shorten my tailshaft and get a proper yolk to fit the C6 (apparently C6s are a longer box then C4s etc)
