Hey guys,

I'm after some help trying to locate a few wires.
1. I need to find a Tacho signal wire so i can wire up my shift light.
2. Either a Water Temp wire or if there is a spot for me to screw a sensore into an engine jacket?? or something like that...

Cheers Dave

The water temperature sender should sit in the lower thermostat housing if its similar to the I6, and the tacho wire (though being an XR it should have one, and so cant see the point?) should come from the ecu, and up to the dash. The wiring section in the gregorys manuals should show you which colour if you know how to look.

Thanks mate,
Yeah i've got a different brand Workshop manual, because apparently Gregory's don't have one for the V8's.
Its only for a shift light, not a monster tacho or anything like that, cause i hate them too!

Cheers Dave

Yeah i can't stand them, some people love them, personaly i'm one that doesn't. It was just with the blower setup, the power is going to be coming on a little differently than it is at the moment. I just didn't want to be hitting the limiter.

Thanks for the help.

For the coolant temp you can either tap into the factory harness at the EEC (pin 7 which I have listed as light green/yellow) or from one of the sensors. I have attached a pic of the two temp sensor, I think the one on the passanger side is the dash sensor while the one on the drivers is the EEC feed. Otherwise you can just tap into the thermostat housing like I have done (see other pic)

There is a tach feed to the instrument cluster (pink/blue wire) or you can get it from the diagnostics port directly below the fuse panel, its the third pin from the right on the bottom row.

Just be careful in the EL's - the cluster tacho line may be green/yellow - don't get it mixed up with similar wires, e.g. fuel tank.
