hi, i have noticed that if i go from using 91 ron to 98 ron, my cranking time will increase by about 2-3 seconds.

running on 91, it will take about 1-1.5 sec to fire up but with 98 it will take about 3-3.5 sec to fire.

just want to know if any one else is having the same problem & what could possibly be causing it.

Cheers.

It most likely has everything to do with the octane level of the fuel. 98 is slower burning therefore it takes longer to fire especially on crank when dynamic compression is low. A reflash to increase your base timing will likely improve the situation which, with 9.5:1 should be fairly high on your list of mods to do.

cheers XR9ute.

i have a SCT X3 running on the 'generic' 98 tune (which makes no difference to cranking time vs stock tune).
there are some spark settings in there, will adjusting these help at all?

No wuckers.
If they have a cranking spark table you could adjust that up a coupla degrees.
