I am currently looking at a black AUIII Auto xr8. It is in absolutley immaculate condition. Its stock as a rock with all the option possible out of the factory. I just want people to suggest any mods i can do to get the torque and killowatts up. Obviously I will run and exhaust and extractors, also a K&N filter (I already have an AUIII Airscoop :D ) I am just looking for anymore suggestions out there, I want this to go up from 220 to around the 300 mark. But i want the engine to still be NA. I want all trhe grunt to be the V8. any suggestions appreciated.

wat about a new cam like a crane 2030 or 2031 - i was quoted $300 for the 2030 cam, or a crow cam. there are also cams on the fordracing website that would slot in to ur engine. maybe some upgarded roller rockers - yella terra for around $500, bigger maf and throttle body along with a tune would go along way. after looking into all this u could consider porting the heads a little to give it some more flow. there's heaps of threads on here about mods for these engines.
let us know how u go.

cheers

The car already has 1.7 rockers on it, so the 2031 crane cam will make it a little more agressive.

A reprogrammable performance chip (such as unichip) will also help.

You'll need to stroke it to get a drivable 300kw out of it. The 2031 cam works nice though. That and the usuals along with some porting opf the inlet etc should see you to the better side of 250-260kw.

Alloy heads, inlet and a cam should see you up around the 260+ mark.

Yeah exactly, the only way to get a streetable 300kw out of it is to stroke it or supercharge it. Anything more than about 260kw out of a NA 5L isn't exactly streetable.

Stroke it, blow it or put it on the bottle.

No stuffing around if you want that kind of power.

XRcarlos: He said he wants 300kw we are just telling him the cheap way. Or he could play with heads and intake etc only too find that he won't get what he wants and end up pulling it apart a second or third time (as i did) and spending a lot more.

Supercharge or stroke it! Both are fun.

Granted! i was just s#it stirring thats all... stroking a 5ltr into a streetable, consistent & raceable everyday drive is no easy feet, thats all i was trying to say!
Is Victoria the only state with power-to-weight legislation??

Fair call, coz im seeing a lot of P Platers driving 5ltrs... clearly over power to weight ratio, especially the AU Windsors!

I believe they are targeting induvidual models instead of power to weight. Wheels and motor have some write ups on it. It seems that in NSW you can't drive a daihatsu copen at a huge 58.75kw per tone or a smart for two (60.81kw per tonne). But you can drive a lotus estige (160kw per tonne) and an alpha romeo 147 gta (135.29kw per tonne).

In VIC you can drive a WRX but not NSW.
In NSW you can drive an Integra type s but not VIC

Makes little sense to me. Does that mean that if you drive one of the banned cars in NSW and live in vic you are not allowed to drive to QLD in it?

Makes absolutely no sense to me!
I haven't been pulled over once in the 8, with P's up... so do the maths?
And i have driven in Vic, Nsw & Sa... and my ride isn't completely stock
There needs to be more consistency across the board with this power-to-weight issue... so i dunno!
Carlos,
