be careful with MAF's, i bought one, but my car ran real terrible with it .. lucky i can use it with the s/c set-up later this year,

id be looking at a good exhaust system. if not already , then save more pennies for some better bang for bucks mods. ex: better manifolds, heads , rr , cam , etc .. all mods that should be capable of running the stock ECU and fuel pump and injectors.

Shift Kit. Underdrive Pulleys. 1.72:1 Roller Rockers. Intake Manifold.

see, there's my problem. i'm paranoid.

I've been told shift kits will kill autos and uni's and all this other stuff because they're harsh and forceful.

I've been told underdrive pulleys stuff with the RPM that the pulleys spin

Will the roller rockers need an ECU mod for them to preform?

will the stock ECU run a stock air/fuel ratio even with the bigger manifold and cause it to lean out?

All these things rack my brain, I don't know what do to first!! lol

I've had a shift kit for three years. No worries there. The box will get tired over time no matter what. Service her regularly.

I've had underdrive pulleys for 2-3 years. No worries there either.

Roller rockers will not need ECU mods.

The ECU will adapt to the changes you make. Intake Manifold is no difference. Again, I've done that no worries. The car will perhaps perform better with ECU mods, but you don't need them. Unless you have $ or unless you can do it yourself, do the other things before the intake.

Do you have extractors? Do that first. That will be the biggest/easiest gain.

At the moment the car already has:

Extractors
Exhaust
4.11:1 LSD
GT Snorkel

I'm pretty sure that's all it's got performance wise.

I'll price up what it'll cost me for a twEECer, and i'll price up intake and t/b.

Then I'll be asking you which way to go if they're both around the same $$ range.

If the car is that gutless, I'd be trying to find the problem before modding it.
Get a dyno run on it, see where the air fuel ratios are at, and how much power it's putting out.

Some other cheap and easy things to do would be.
-Check and replace spark plugs if needed.
-Check and replace air filter if needed(may aswell put k&n in there if not already)
-Replace fuel filter.
-Check TPS voltage
-Check ignition leads, cap and rotor
-Check and clean MAF hotwires.
-Ensure no leaks on the inlet
-Check and replace oxy sensors if needed.
-Check ignition timing
-Use diagnostics to check for any fault codes.

May be some other things to check but thats all i can think of off the top of my head, someone else may be able to help.

What extractors and exhaust are you running?, can you put up pics of extractors?

I Will tomorrow if i remember ZH47WEPN, They're not coated in anything, just steel lookin. lol

-Check and replace spark plugs if needed. - Done, major service done about a month ago.
-Check and replace air filter if needed(may aswell put k&n in there if not already) - Done, K&N oil lubed filter in it
-Replace fuel filter. - Done, was stupidly blocked.
-Check TPS voltage
-Check ignition leads, cap and rotor - leads are aftermarket, may have a look at them tomorrow but
-Check and clean MAF hotwires.
-Ensure no leaks on the inlet - with a soap and water solution? spray it on the seals while running and look for bubbles? or will it vaccum and i won't see it?
-Check and replace oxy sensors if needed.
-Check ignition timing
-Use diagnostics to check for any fault codes. - no signals flashing on start up, i assume it hasn't picked anything up.

Those two go together.
Oiled filters and MAFs can be a bad idea, if oil gets sucked through onto the hotwire, it can not read airflow properly.

You'll see it, it's inside the MAF housing.
Use carby cleaner or similar, very carefully.

Just waitin on the family car to return home so i can get tools out of it, bought some CRC Carby & Throttle cleaner to clean it up.

It's best to leave the car running when I clean it yeah, and preferably have someone in the car holding the revs at about 2000?

Heres pics of my extractors (can anyone tell me what they are?) and the reason i need to get the camber caster kit re-adjusted asap.

I woke up my car a fair bit with the following: BPT underdrives, Redback cat back exhaust, 5 speed conversion and finally the AU V8 manifolds and throttle body. I already had the K&N filter too.

With what you already have, I'd be getting the explorer with the 65mm TB and roller rockers. At least it should breath better and put you in good stead for a decent set of heads and a nicer cam down the track.

I cleaned the MAF and t/b with some carby cleaner, cleaned the air filter with high pressure water (and let it dry), d/c'd the battery for 20 mins,
but it didn't fix anything.

So i thought eff it, i'll write a list of what i want fixed, take it to my local mech who i used to work for.

He wanted a week, so i gave it to him.

Missed about $500 worth of overtime at my other job because i didn't have a car, he'd had it for 2 weekends so i couldn't go out.

Rang him today and he says he needs it till thursday, I said i need it today and tomorrow and i'll give it back to him wednesday.

I go down there to pick it up and ask whats been done so far - NOTHING!

He CLAIMS he's found the power issue, that it's the injectors, and that he'll clean them when i bring it back to him (trying to garentee i'll bring it back, you see)

HOW THE f**k do injectors cause major intimittent restrictions in power? it idles fine, runs smoothly - just sometimes has more than half the power taken away by some issue (which to me feels like fuel starvation).

So I took the car off him, and highly doubt i'll be taking it back to him.
I MAY take it back on the condition that he clean the injectors but if it doesn't fix the problem i'm not paying for it, and for him not to touch anything else.

I'm SO p****d off, I've been doing sweet f**k all for 2 weeks expecting my car to come back in pristeen condition with everything i listed fixed and the car working perfectly.

Instead I get an unwashed EL with exhaust gas marks on the bumpers from his other pieces of s**t cars spitting all over it, and it's the same el with dodgy power steering, f**k all power, squeaky brakes, and STILL no RWC to put it in my name.

Sure it's a fair bit of work to pull the suspension out, put stock ones in and get it RWC'd - BUT THATS WHAT NEEDS DOING, THATS WHAT I'M f**k PAYING FOR, YOU CAN'T PICK AND CHOOSE!

Anyway..

I don't know what to do, i've got all this money to put into the car but no C*** wants to do the work.

*sigh*
