Hi All
I am looking at the issues with my V8 AU fairlane exhaust, there is a flange joint that seems to be loose on one side however the bolts seem to have seized. there is a noticeable exhaust leak. it appears on one side it is welded to the pipe and on the other side it is loose to allow the pipe to be able to move / turn in place. is this normal? I am thinking i will need to replace the bolts on it so that it can seal properly again. what sort of bolts are these that i should replace them with?

Not sure what your issue is exactly, but sounds like someone has just jammed the pipe inside the flanged side ?
Are we talking flanged (with 2 bolt holes) or flared for a pipe insert & clamp ? Either way, no exhaust should be "loose' in its fittings to allow for movement, that's what the rubber hangers are for. If replacing bolts, use stainless if possible as galvanized will soon rust with heat cycles. |
