LPG Powered, 40 something mm mixer ring- would I be worth getting:-


65mm AU ford falcon xr8 throttle body to suit an e series (the plug is to suit) Part number F8RU-AA

70mm throttle body spacer bored out for extra flow. Part number 9H474-AA

75mm maf sensor off a au xr8 Part number F57F-128579-CA

Is there a larger diameter mixer ring on the market??
I am assuming all these are pointless with the puny little mixer ring.

Well if i were you I'd have a look at the mixer ring in the intake pipe. At best it might be 40-50mm and restriction will be there before you "max" out your throttle body and maf.

yeah I would step up to a larger Mixer ring before anything else. The bottle neck is where the restriction it.

I'm using an explorer intake and 65mm throttle body on my LPG wagon. Combined with a cam and head mods as well as the pacemakers, the engine really came to life.

raffy, the way I see it, if the motor really is a goer in petrol form, then you will generally see it perform better on gas aswell. So whatever makes the engine perform better on petrol will benefit the engine when it runs on LPG. However, you must understand that you will always have a restriction with the mixer ring. A larger MAF will not be as much as a benefit on LPG as it would be on a petrol only application.

As far as larger mixers are concerned, sly found a airod mixer that opens up according to vacuum which allows more air to flow into the engine. These are very few and far betweem though.

I made a 70mm I.D. venturi gas mixer years ago. Worked excellent on my cleveland and also on my windsor. I actually geared up to produce them but it was a waste of time...too many tyre kickers.

i dont think this mixer is 70mm ID ( i think it comes with adapters to SUIT up to 70 mm tube ) I also think it looks quite restrictive- the vapour distribution looks questionable also...

No, certainly not 70mm ID, I'd be curious to know what the overall ID/flow is though.. potentially better than those crappy 30mm ID rings we're running now - and to be honest, I think it would flow more air than those MED Variable mixers that everyone (including myself) loves.

the problem with the mixers is there arent designed for performace aplications so when the makers of the mixers being MED,Viallie, Amos & the likes made them for the std road going engines, so the mixer inner circumfrence was made to keep the signal at the convertor as constant as posible, as with out this invsiable signal the convertor will not deiliver the amount of gas at a given point.....to small inner diameter to rich down low & mid range & no top end.....to bigg of the inner diameter then it becomes to lean down low very boggy untill mid range & then great for top end untill there is engough air speed to create the signal that the convertor reqires to flow max gas.....the concept about the variable mixer from MED is to keep a larger inner diameter with a sliding inner sleeve & with that sliding sleeve it kept the exact signal to the convertor at any given point being from idle to WOT so the convertor was going to work properly......I personaly know the owner of MED the guy that desinged the varible mixer & we've had lenghty chats about making them more suited for performace set ups & it was very doable but when the goverment decided to introduce the $2000 rebate they concentrated more on the sales of kits & this project was dropped...... But Pete's mixer worked well I remember when he was playing with it & the design of the screw in & out gas feed was impressive.....so IMO the variable mixer is still a good choise over any fixed type I also have my one O/S atm as I'm looking at bringing them back in production & I have MED's aproval but they will come with a disclamer.......
