hi guys,

after reading an article i am interested in making a water injection kit. the benifits of cleaning out carbon and increasing octane to prevent detonation are appealing.

the car is an EL XR8 auto

I am thinking of using my washer resoviour and plumbing it into the intake piping but i have a few questions.

- is it a good idea to use a metholated spirits / water mix or is that bad for the engine?
- if so what ratio should i use?
- i was thinking of buying some garden spray nozzles (mist ones) will these supply too much water/metho and cause a problem?
- where should i plumb the pipe, before or after the TB? any ideas on a good point to do so?

keen to hear peoples thoughts and experiences with the same idea

Your EL should not have any detonation problems with a standard tune, so the benefit of ongoing application is very doubtful. If you want to steam clean the inside of your engine you can pull off a small vacuum line and stick it into a cup of water at idle. A 50:50 methanol:water mix is generally considered the best for detonation control and power production in boosted or high compression engines.

may sound a silly question but where can i buy small quantaties of methanol?

Try an oil company, or somewhere that carries bio-diesel supplies. Even ask a model shop where they get their glow fuel from.
