Hi All,

Any opinions on whether the extra 10K is really worth it too have the GT-P over the GT.

Also for those of you who may have been lucky enough to already own/test driven a GT or GTP do u know if the tip tronic auto allows u to really feel the acceleration like a manual - ive test driven a few monaros now and the feel of accelerating hard is incredible ( these were all manual )

I currently have a 96 EFII XR6 Auto and a friend has a 95 EF XR6 Manual and when giving it some stick his feels so much better.

Cheers
Kev

I reckon it is, but only if you can afford it. You get the fat a*** brakes as standard for one and they're worth a s**t on their own. As for the auto, the 6 speed will always be better but the sequential isn't bad. If you want an auto, I'll drop a hint and say wait a little while.

You can get a GT and tick a few boxes and have the same equipment as the GT-P.
I really dont know if the GT-P has any options not available on the GT.

I'd just get a GT manual.

People should try to get away from autos. Robs the car of power and seat of your pants feel. There are so many autos around its depressing.
I have one auto car and one manual. The manual is so much better.

Yeah the GT-P has different skirts and interior options.

Yeah the brembos are awesome.

I know that the manual have always had the better feel just didnt know whether these new sequential shift auto ba's with all the high torque components would provide that same feeling

For the extra 10k im sure 5k on brakes for option and 2/3k for your own custom interior if your that way inclined?

or maybe work out the extra's with the options list?

Hehe, good call.

But honestly, if i had this kind of scratch to throw around i'd be straight on the phone with CAPA anyways so i think the GT would be fine (actually in that case i'd prolly go for an XT with a Boss in it).

But then the P gets all the fancy exterior options, yeah? Does look rather sleek.....

I would rather have the GT-P personally, excellent brakes, sweet interior and a sleek looking bodykit to go with it! :P

Yeah I have a few options too consider - as they are all around the 70K mark.

XR6T with all main options and with APS Phase 3 kit round $68K (these are all full retail prices by the way) - puts out to 390kw at the flywheel

GT-P with the interior options $73K - 290kw at fly

F6 Typhoon with all the options $68K also APS is currently designing a Phase 2 kit for it ???

So many choices

you know my choice

when i bought the GT-P i looked at the GT aswell the extra was worth paying. Brembo brakes, better looking front bumper and side skirts,
better steering wheel, better seats, climate control, worth the 8 grand extra.
and yeh the manual is great. i got ford to put a SVO short shift in aswell (mines a mk1 5spd) as you need to be quick on the shifts or you hit the rev limiter. the auto is very fast on the shifts and changes B4 the limiter making it fast in anyones hands. the manual takes a bit of learning listening to the revs to pick the exact point to change just B4 the limiter.
but when you get the hang of it a lot of fun :D

Well, if you're looking at the Typhoon as well... The Typhoon is a very quick car, quicker than the 8s and can be made a hell of a lot quicker! If you want speed, get that. If you want that note, get the GTP.
