Hi guys. Im still toying with the idea of a 6 -> 8 conversion.
Is the K-Frame actually different in the two, and does it need to be changed? Wiring wise, I dont think moving the harness between cars is an issue. Is there any other serious gotchas about a conversion? Nigel |

rip the motor and box out.
you have to get the front up in the air, you need to drop the struts and all of the front suspension, then the rack and then unbolt the K frame. all the stuff you just took off the EB sadan V8 has to be put onto the wagon. big job Nigel shame your going to do that to your mint looking EB2 mont, Ghia makes me want to cry. the motor will fit no probs Nigel as long as you trans plant the front suspension as well. as i said before to you, your exhaust will fit the cats and Y pipe, you mad have to get the rear part replaced from the Y pipe back, as i think the sedan one will be a bit short.

i almost forgot you need to use the Break booster from the V8 as well. and im not sure but you may need a better fuel pump.

The brake booster should be the same - weve just had this discussion. The newer car has ABS. So no need for a change there.
Hmmmm. See Ive found a nice mint white EB, and I love my EL 193kw engine. Dont know how else to do it. Tricky |

If you have a donor vehicle like the EB2 or an NC2, that would be the go but not entirely necessary. The V8 booster has a dual diaphram but your I6 should work. You will need the V8 loom and from very recent experience, the ED V8 loom is an evolution of the original EA loom. It is an absolute shamozzell. Be really careful with all connectors and that the loom isn't stretched.

and you will need your V8 cluster from the sedan as well.
and the ecu and the gearbox ecu

I guess what intersts me is if I need to change over the dash wiring, or if the V8 stuff for the TCM is an "add-in".
Thats probably the worst part of it. Cluster change : no problem. TCM : well, the 6 doesnt have one.. but were thinking. Otherwise I sell the V8, and go see Joe. |

You can always customise your looms to suit. I have an ED V8 that has a EF six cyl loom modified to suit with a DL V8 auto ecu and matching tcm. A good wiring diagram and help from people here make it an easier task.

Thats what I was wondering!.
Still pondering - its a big job unless theres a spare V8 k-frame around.. |
