I am thinking about doing a similar thing, and 371 seems like an ideal capacity. Is it possible just to use the 302W block? Also, are alloy heads/aftermarket necessary if I wish to port/ polish them? Budget is very tight.
I just want somethign that will keep up with/demolish the new 6.0 Holdens/HSV's, so I want maximum flow, capacity and efficiency on a tight budget.

FalconIV, you shouldn't have any problem if you went any kinda of stroker. My blower setup, still not running 100%, a 297kw 6lt Clubbie couldn't keep up down the Calder Park straight.

TickXR, very nice setup you've got going on. Just be careful with that 4 letter word i heard you use earlier... CAPA.
If you're getting all of this gear, and you then decide to head down the Forced Induction route, i would personally not be looking at a Vortech, and wouldn't go near CAPA.

What is the maximum capacity a 302W can be bored/stroked to? Would it be possible to retain standard heads if they were ported/polished/3 angle valve job?

Send me a PM thanks
If you have any other suggestions i am all ears 8-)

Just an update for you guys
Had couple delays on build but all good now and nearly have everything to start putting motor together

This is what i have
DART Sportsman block
SRP 4.125 forged flat top pistons
SCAT forged crankshaft
SCAT forged I beam conrods
COMP CAMS hydraulic roller camshaft
EDELBROCK Victor intake manifold

This is what i still need to get
AFR 205cc alloy heads
MILODON or similar gear drive
HI ENERGY oil sump
Custom fuel system
and various other little items

I had the pro top line heads all ported and fitted out with guide plates, screw in studs, roller rockers and all that but decided to sell these heads and fit a set of alloys instead

So now waiting for new set of AFR's to come in and get same special treatment as old irons received then it will be assembly time - can't wait

Hopefully will all be together in next month or two

Any particular reason for using a gear drive? they are not really a high mileage item, and do nothing to help valvetrain harmonics, IMO all they do is make noise, and put shards of metal through the engine when they start to wear out.

Stick to chain set, or belt drive, IMO.

This is my biggest concern about gear drives to, i have been trying to find a set that have good wear characteristics and don't make that mch noise either
One of my old motors skipped a couple teeth on a chain and started bending things so just trying to avoid this scenario this time round

Still not 100% if i'll put gear drives in yet but thought i'd post it as i am considering the option

Not in a dealership/distributor sense, or at all?

I'm still getting one tho, even if it means faking being a seppo. Ha!

Not quite what i'm looking for
I'm not interested in blowers that attach to intake manifold as these types do not create the amount of HP that i am after

I have been looking into a Vortech V4 charger, these are rated at 1400+hp at 29psi so i am thinking this might be the go
If my motor cracked 1000 with it i would be over the moon

I already have a brand new hybrid intercooler sitting here so will be looking at making the custom mounting brackets needed to mount this after i get new venom front bar

But this is getting ahead of myself as need to get stage 1 built first

Nah - I'm after something like a Vortech that is belt driven off to the side of themotor from which will run through an intercooler before going to intake manifold
