my 351 clevo straight gas has no oil pressure i was driving normal then a cylinder cut out i kept driving then oil pressure slowly cut out i kept going home 30mins away :L wasnt in the mood to stop doznt seem like i did any damage........i asked around and someone told me it would be the dizzy i changed that but the first time i put it in wasnt set up right with the firing order and inline on the cam and when i tried to start it a electric burn and smoke came from it....................
Then i set it right runs fine now but no oil pressure still...?

my question is am i really that unlucky that i stuffed the new dizzy so its just doing the same that what was wrong with the original one or

or its got nothing to do with the dizzy and its the oil pump.........i dont reckon its the heads cause i was driving normal when i was driving and it was cold night plus it runs fine no smoke its just the rockers screaming cause theres no oil

got told that i can put a drill on the rod that the dizzy sits on and see if the oil comes up can you really do this????

Oil pump could of let go , drive shaft to the pump from the dizzy could of snapped , could of done a cam , big end or main bearing. Could be a few things.
Either way if you drove 30mins with out oil pressure your lifters will be stuffed , bearings stuffed , pretty much rebuild time.

WHY have a gauge on your pride and joy ???
To keep driving it with no oil pressure showing on gauge ???
Your up for a new engine if it was no oil pressure...

BTW a mech oil gauge is capillary line to gauge ...
With NO electronics...

If your engine is an old stocker, or just old, it may have picked up some s**t in the oil pump. The pump gets too tight or locks up completely, and then the oil pump will round the corners off the hexagonal bar, (the shaft from the dist to the oil pump) so the oil pump is no longer turning.
Does your engine rattle when it's running?
If you are not sure, get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and find out if you do have any oil pressure. If you have some, then your very lucky. If you have none, then you are screwed, and it's time for a FULL rebuild, 'coz 30 mins without oil pressure means the crank may be rooted, as well as everything else...... :(

Could have also blocked the pickup to the sump.
Non careful use of silastic over many years and using crap oil could cause this.

No oil pressure and the thing would have seized in that time. Just fit a mechanical gauge and fire it up. If the gauge then reads zero then scratch your head looking for answers.

If it started to miss and then lost oil pressure I would look at whether you had bent a pushrod.
30 minutes with no oil at all would have added a breather hole in the side of the block.
BTW if I drove a car with no oil pressure for 30 minutes I wouldn't tell anyone.
