i have two offers for a set of extractors for my NF Fairlane. The first offer is HM Interference Headers and the second is Pacemaker's Tri-y's. Which one would be better off with my 5L. I have a single genie 2.5" cat back hi flow sports exhaust at the moment. And also what are the differences? Any information would be gladly appreciated as i only have a few days to decide. Thankyou.

Depends on what sort of driving you intend to do?
The Pacemaker PH4000 is what I have and is designed to improve the low to mid range torque. If you intend to only have your engine running at high RPM constantly then go the Pacemaker competition headers.

Interference and Tri-Y are usually one and the same, simply because Tri-Y's or 4-2-1 headers take up less space than 4 into 1's.
So it's a case of what do you want and what are you going to do?
The pacemakers are normally 1 5/8" primaries but I believe the HM's are available with 1 1/2" primaries. So I'd say use the 1 1/2" HM's if you aren't going to do anything else at all to increase the performance of the car. Something tells me you will so pacemaker it is. Whatever you get, do not get bigger primaries than 1 5/8".

The only Di Filippo's I've seen for the late model Windsor Falcon are a long tube (4-1) with 1 7/8" primaries and a 3" collector. In a word....BIG.

Ive got the PH4006 Pacey 4-1 Comp extractors on my 5L. They have the same 1 5/8" primary, and 2 1/4" collector as the tri-y's.

Anyone who tells you tri-y's are for low down torque, and 4-1's are for top-end power, are really over-generalising and not looking at the full picture.

And you cant necessarily trust the manufacturers measurements. My PH4006 where advertised as having a 2 1/4" collector, and both measured to exactly 2 1/10".

yeah the PH4006 is a great header, pitty we can't put them on the EB-EL 5.0

there is a zorst place in sydney i think ,that sell PH4004 tuned length headers for EB-EL 5.0, i have asked around pacemaker didn't release a PH4004 so go figure

Pipe and Tube are measured differently.

Pipe ie Seamless pipe, Steam pipe, etc are measured inside ie 3 inch pipe schedule 40 is 77.9 mm nom. bore and 88.9 mm Outside dia.

Tube is the other way around and im pretty sure that is measured In Outside Diameter, mainly because of the way the are made and the equipment they use to bend it, Mandrel tube benders dies are made to O.D.
